At the time of the session, ring the bell upwards and downwards, gathering all meanings. Steadily place the object of meditation, and take in the understanding of what is to be contemplated. Occasionally intersperse stories and the like, mixing in wondrous tales. In order to reveal the students' faults, strike the small drum of past stories. Afterwards, dedicate merit and make aspirations, cherishing all with loving Bodhicitta. If one is skilled in teaching practice in this way, the lama is like a Buddha in a carved bowl, with the patterns of the sacred Dharma. Place the worthy student into it, and the patterns of the carved bowl will be imprinted upon them, transforming into the essence of the three kayas. Thus, cherish the practice of the teacher. As it is said, the preparation and practice, all great and small, should not be tainted by the self-made impurities of seizing power over the Dharma. First, offer a mandala. In order to place all sentient beings, equal to the sky, in the state of unsurpassed, perfectly complete Buddhahood. The nectar of the Sugata's speech, the essence of the eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma (140), the supreme of the Great Vehicle, the fruit of the Great Perfection of inherent nature, enter this path with the mind of seeking its meaning, based on unwavering faith. As it is said in the sutra, 'Listen well and keep it in mind,' thus abandoning the three faults of the vessel, regarding oneself as a patient, the Dharma as medicine, the teacher as a doctor, and diligent practice as healing. Regard the Tathagata as a noble person, quickly abide in the principles of the Dharma, that is, the six recognitions. And as it is said in the Kuntuzangpo Tantra: Sit in the lotus position in a place of comfort, do not move from one place. If there is a hat, place it in front; if there is hair, let it hang down in front. Place the hands together in the mudra of equanimity. Abandon all actions with the hands. Look at the face of the lama with the eyes, listen to the words of the lama with the ears, determine the meaning of the words with the mind, and ask immediately if there are doubts. Abandon whispering sounds in the mouth, abandon large movements such as stretching legs and leaning, abandon unauthorized beds and cushions. Do not wear a hat when not sick, do not carry a weapon when there are no enemies, do not carry a cane when not old, abandon all actions that are not in accordance with the rules. Connect each word (141) and meaning one by one. At the end of the Dharma session, connect the beginning and the end with strong attachment. Abandon ordinary behavior.

All must be abandoned. Practice diligently according to the Dharma's precepts. By saying this, all motivations and actions are clarified, so please listen attentively. At this time, if explaining using other pith instruction texts such as the 'Nyingtik Yazhi,' one first explains the greatness of the Dharma and the lineage, and then guides students to generate faith according to their capacities. In the 'Son's Letter,' it says, 'Thinking that all conditioned things are impermanent.' Therefore, one first contemplates based on the scriptures. That is, we rely solely on the power of past accumulations to obtain this precious human body of leisure and opportunity, which is difficult to find in terms of both quantity and essence, which is very fortunate. If one thinks that sudden circumstances are unavoidable, and if one dies tonight and becomes a corpse lying in bed tomorrow morning, what should one do? Foolish and ignorant people do not even contemplate whether death will come or not, but simply indulge in immediate pleasures and die. Some people think that death will come, but before they get old, they think that there will be a lot of happiness, so they focus on external forms and expectations through various rituals and methods, and are completely dominated by the desires of this life. Just like these people are preparing offerings for the end of the month and tsampa, etc., but at that time, are we sure that we will not be reborn as beings with horns on their heads and mouths, different from this body, and that even the bones of this body will not be left behind? If there is no such certainty, then there is no way to deal with it at that time. The 'Sutra of Advice to the King' says, 'Great King, for example, if four solid, stable, and tall mountains fall from four directions, grinding grass, trees, and all beings into powder and gathering together, it is not easy to quickly escape from it, or to resist with strength, or to bribe with wealth, or to prevent it with objects, mantras, and medicine. Similarly, all sentient beings face the four great fears of sickness, old age, death, and decay. It is not easy to quickly escape from it, or to resist with strength, or to bribe with wealth, or to prevent it with objects, mantras, and medicine.' Therefore, we will all surely die. The 'Sutra of Eliminating Sorrow' says, 'If the bodies of the Buddhas, with marks and
