It is extensively explained in sutras and other texts, and as it is said in the Kunjuzangpo Tantra: "First, when a student requests vows from the lama, they should do as follows: Rise early (133) and wash their face and hands. Carefully arrange their attire. Discern whether fellow practitioners possess samaya. Make thorough preparations and distinctions. Sweep the Dharma hall." As such, one should bathe and wear clean clothes. Those fellow practitioners who do not possess samaya should be excluded and abandoned through skillful means. In the Dharma hall, one should definitely perform three types of sweeping, such as sweeping according to the time and place. Then, the throne, the lama's curtain, and the inner and outer offerings should be extensively arranged. The arrangement should be particularly excellent, guiding speech and pleasing the mind. Then, the sound that urges the turning of the Dharma wheel, the great conch of Dharma, should be blown nine times, facing the lama's direction. The prayers of all should be done in the conch's sound. The lama should be welcomed with incense and music. Request them to sit on the seat of bliss. As such, without being disrespectful, one should arrange offerings that please the lama and the Three Jewels, and a high throne, etc. When blowing the conch to urge the Dharma, one should blow it facing the lama, as a form of offering. It is said that many sentient beings who hear that sound are also liberated from the lower realms, so one should know that the realm and means of the Buddhas and (134) Bodhisattvas are inconceivable, and that blowing the conch as a signal for all sessions also has such great significance. At that time, the lama should also learn the conduct of taming those to be tamed and guiding them, as it is said in Longsal: "The extent of the student's devotion depends on the lama's good or bad actions. Walking, standing, sleeping, eating, etc., one should skillfully learn conduct." It is said, and in the Ocean of Tantras, when explaining the aspects of samaya, it is also said: "If the master fails, there is no way to rectify it. Both will go to great Naraka." As such, in general, one should learn extremely reasonable conduct in all ways, and especially when teaching the Dharma, etc., one needs something that is not too coarse, not too fine, not too shaky, and not too loose. As it is said in Longsal: "Thus, for a student with the capacity, at the time of teaching the profound Dharma, the lama's conduct should be as follows: Sit in the lotus position on a comfortable seat, and clearly visualize the main deity of the mandala of whatever vehicle one is teaching."
