Dha dha na. Pa pha ba bha ma. Ya ra la wa. Sha sha sa ha ksha seven times. Ye dharmā hetu prabhavā hetu tunteshānta tathāgato hyavadat. Tesham cha yo nirodha evam vādī mahāśramaṇa svāhā. Seven times. The invocation to awaken, the distant call to the lama: When the yoga of rising at dawn arrives, Lama, know! Lama, know! Lama, know! Calling out with intense longing, From the blossoming of faith's pistil in the heart's center, The one refuge, kind lama, arise! For the sake of saving me, tormented by fierce karma and afflictions, Reside as the ornament of the blissful great wheel on my crown. I beseech you to awaken all mindfulness and awareness. Now, from hell beings, pretas, and animals, From long-lived gods, barbarians, and those with wrong views, From lands where buddhas have not appeared and the mute, Having obtained leisure from the eight unfree states, With unchanging faculties complete, born in a central land, With faith in the teachings, not turned to wrong livelihood, Having the five personal endowments complete, a buddha has appeared, The Dharma is taught, the teachings abide and one has entered them, Being held by a holy spiritual friend and the five other endowments, Although having obtained the state where all are complete within oneself, Abandoning life due to many conditions and uncertainty, One will go to the next world. Turn your mind to the Dharma, guru, know! Do not let me stray to a lower path, omniscient lord! Inseparable, kind lama, know! If this time the leisure and opportunity are not made meaningful, Afterwards, one will not find a basis for accomplishing liberation. When merit is exhausted in the basis of fortunate rebirths, After death, one will wander in the lower realms and bad migrations. Not knowing virtue and vice, not hearing the sound of Dharma, Not meeting virtuous friends, how great the flaw! Considering the number and order of sentient beings, Obtaining a human body is like the edge of existence. Even among humans, seeing those without Dharma engaging in evil, Practicing according to Dharma is like a star in the daytime. Turn your mind to the Dharma, guru, know! Do not let me stray to a lower path, omniscient lord! Inseparable, kind lama, know! Even if one goes to the precious island of a human body, With a good physical basis but a mind like a large heap of ashes, It is not suitable as a basis for accomplishing liberation, Especially if seized by demons, the five poisons are rampant, Bad karma has befallen one, and one is distracted by laziness, Enslaved to others, a hired hand, feigning fear and protection as Dharma, Ignorance and other temporary occurrences.

The eight unfavorable conditions. When I encounter things contrary to the Dharma, please, Guru, turn my mind to the Dharma. Please, Omniscient Lord, do not let me go astray. Inseparable, kind Lama. Lacking renunciation and devoid of the wealth of faith. Bound by the ropes of desire and with rough behavior. Not fearing non-virtue and sin, actions are reversed. Vows are broken and commitments are torn. Eight kinds of unfavorable conditions with prejudiced minds. When I encounter things contrary to the Dharma, please, Guru, turn my mind to the Dharma. Please, Omniscient Lord, do not let me go astray. Inseparable, kind Lama. Now not afflicted by illness and suffering. Not becoming slaves and others under the control of others. At this time when freedom is obtained and conditions are met. If laziness and negligence let leisure pass in vain. Just like treating relatives, possessions, and friendships. Let alone this cherished body. Being carried from the bed to the empty ground. When being torn apart by foxes, vultures, and dogs. The fear in the Bardo realm is very great. Please, Guru, turn my mind to the Dharma. Please, Omniscient Lord, do not let me go astray. Inseparable, kind Lama. The ripening of good and bad karma follows like a shadow. Especially if one falls into the hell realm. On the red-hot iron ground, the head and body are split with weapons. Wings are sawed off with saws, and struck with burning iron hammers. Surrounded by a doorless iron house, cries of agony are emitted. Pierced with burning firebrands, and poured with boiling iron water. Burned by fire that is hot from all directions, this is the eight hot hells. On the edge of thick snow mountains and icy. In the terrifying ravines, blizzards rage. The body struck by the cold and biting wind. Covered with blisters, especially bursting. Constantly uttering cries of lamentation. Because it is difficult to endure the suffering felt. Like a dying patient whose essence is exhausted. Emitting long sighs, teeth chattering, skin cracking. Emitting a "shau (653)" sound, even more bursting, these are the eight cold hells. Similarly, walking on a plain where hairs are like knives. In a forest of swords, the body is cut and chopped. Sinking into a swamp of corpses, in an endless expanse of ashes. The neighboring hells and changing hells that are tormented. Doors, pillars, stoves, and ropes, etc. Daily necessities that are always used and enjoyed. Among the eighteen categories
