Because it is a blockage, recognizing even when abiding, recognizing even when changing, this recognition, when it becomes the realm of realization, is a great place of error. So, some wise and accomplished ones of the past have said this in response to questions, what about that? That is for the initial practitioners, those who practice with faith, taking those actions as the actual basis of mindfulness meditation, they think that way when guiding. It should be known that this is not a case of directly showing the Dzogchen path as it sounds. (535) If you don't think that way, then in the commentary Padma Karpo on the omniscient great one's instruction manual, the Wish-Fulfilling Treasure, it says: Some meditators nowadays consider the three downward-flowing thoughts of present awareness to be elaboration. Whatever arises, however it changes, if they recognize it as mind, that's enough, and those who count the occurrences of arising and ceasing are as far from the meaning of reality as heaven and earth. It is said that you have no share of the Dharma! Secondly, if you can guard it without attachment, then from the grasping of what is seen and the one who sees, with single-pointed samadhi, without needing to see, conceptual thoughts themselves recognize themselves and become self-liberated, which is called liberation like a snake's knot. If we use Dharma terminology, it is the subsequent attainment with characteristics, held by skillful means. Although other vehicles consider this to be skilled in calculation, Dzogchenpas say that the sharp awareness of the one who recognizes is distraction and obscuration, and they believe that there is a subtle obscuration of dualistic knowledge (536). Therefore, recognizing even when abiding, recognizing even when changing, if a yogi who has become the realm of realization examines this, there is a very subtle distinction, so this is not the intention of the most supreme yogi. For this, in the case of having a special tenet, closing the eyes of hearing and thinking, relying solely on the power of faith and smooth practice in secluded places such as the shelter of a mountain cave and inside a bed, some people mistakenly believe that they have obtained the secret treasure of Longchenpa's intention. And some debaters say: Well, if there is no realization of the one who recognizes, then it is the same as the dark stone view of Heshang. The answer is: Heshang does not have the key to distinguishing between the conceptualization of object-mind and the non-objective awareness, so mind

When wisdom is not distinguished, all memories, thoughts, and feelings cease, like fainting or falling into a state of ignorance like deep sleep, and thinking that this is the kind of mistaken view of Heshang that you (537) believe exists, like an egg-like pre-conception stated here. Apart from that, many scriptures such as the Buddha Avatamsaka Sutra are in Heshang's mind. When Kamalashila asked about the cause of samsara in a debate, and gestured by circling his head, he could indicate the answer by shaking the two sleeves of his robe to show that grasping and being grasped are the answer. Therefore, it is undeniable that he is a person with extremely sharp senses. If the fault of abandoning discriminating wisdom is applied to something without memory or intention, then this fault will also be applied to the Mother of the Conquerors (Prajnaparamita). Therefore, only the perfectly enlightened Buddha knows whether Heshang's view is truly like this, and others cannot know. In Dzogchen, for object, mind, and discrimination, without speculating with objectless wisdom, but in the state of self-aware memory as clear as a crystal ball, all discriminations are latent, and abiding in one's own nature without increase or decrease, without change, in the vast expanse of space that is free from boundaries, these two are similar in terms of objectlessness. In particular, some people regard the knowledge of discrimination as like disgusting vomit, but manifest it as nectar to be enjoyed, and on the path of the Vajra Essence of Clear Light, without even experiencing a single lifting or placing of the foot, they take root in their own ground in a sudden and eruptive manner, comparing the view of this lineage to Heshang, thereby creating obstacles. As it is said in the Ornament of Dense Array Sutra: "Even if one hears the view of emptiness, if that view is not destroyed, then that incurable view holder is like a patient abandoned by a doctor." One should understand the meaning of this sutra with the three eyes of wisdom. Furthermore, the Mother Sutra (Prajna Sutra) says: "In emptiness there is no form, no feeling, no perception, no formation, no consciousness, etc." One should deeply contemplate its meaning. It is advised not to jump or fall outside the lion. Now, in order to support and dispel those irrational claims with the supreme teachings, as it is said in the All-Creating Tantra: "Self-born wisdom knows itself from the beginning, the wisdom that realizes on objects, arises from objects."
