Those who are arrogant, although they temporarily have the ability to please ordinary people and the self-reliance to climb to high positions, ultimately (24) lack the auspicious connection to achieve liberation. Therefore, those situations and the practice realm of the hidden yogis of our lineage of accomplished ones should not be compared. Alas, wandering Jigmey Namkhai Yogi, before seeing the signs of what should be done in this Dharma, in the spontaneously liberated great bliss that arises at will in the mind, awakened the habitual patterns of realization from the depths of his heart, saw the true face of the Father Tantra Lotus Master, and obtained the essence of the profound Nine Dharmas. It was not just obtaining, but also arose in the continuum, not just empty words, but hitting the nail on the head. With the impermanence of life engraved in his heart, a strong renunciation arose towards karmic samsara. When diligently practicing the essential Dharma, it appeared like this in the lake of the mind of consciousness: the compassionate Lord, the incomparable Lotus Born Master, bestowed the father's wealth upon those with karmic connections, the Lotus Heart Drop Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) practice. When singing the phenomena as a Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुँ, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: 吽) song, the rays of the eastern sun, when bound to the roof of the practice room, on the door of the experience of clear wisdom, saw the body image on the rock in the southern Mon region. The shape of the rock is like an owl in Chim (25) Phu. The color of the rock is black and oily, the surface where habitual patterns appear, about the length of a rope, with traces of hair, saw a very clear state. There, with unbearable devotion, the waves of tears surged, remembering Guru Orgyen and unable to control himself, thinking that it would be good to reach that place now, the experience of bliss and emptiness played freely. A few days later, on the surface of the green-black mirror-like rock, two footprints like those painted with gold appeared from the state of luminous nature. The size of this cannot be measured by conceptual thought. In general, appearances are the play of awareness, and it is said that there are more than a hundred body images such as caves on the rocks in the southern Mon region, so I don't know which one is the real one. The footprints are four large ones on the rocks in the four directions, and the others are very many. At that time, in a deluded dream, when I was close to being without awareness, surrounded by relatives and grieving, there I thought I had gained the confidence of death, telling those people (26) the stages of dissolution, and losing memory in the state of Dharma nature, sometimes regaining memory.

When found, I had arrived in the bardo of self-existence. I saw the corpse being cremated. Alas, the father was greatly saddened by this. In the mind of the self-habitual fleshly form, the mind is formless, devoid of the name of birth and death. Because I saw the truth, I understood that happiness and suffering are false. When I thought of my father, I awoke from sleep and was immersed in a state of clear bliss. Guru Rinpoche had prophesied that the seeds of the six realms of beings would be burned. From that time on, the lice and mites on my body disappeared without a trace. Generally, the bardo is explained as having four categories, and some consider there to be six categories, and so on. In particular, regarding the bardo of dharmata and existence, the views of the new and old tantras are slightly different. Therefore, they try to prove that their own system is reasonable and refute the impropriety of other aspects, and so on. Here, in what is known as "Crossing the Perilous Pass of the Monastic Bardo," if the corpse is cremated, etc., it is best to burn it quickly (27). If it is not burned, that is not good. It is best to disappear quickly. If it stays for a long time, the mouth and nose will be blocked. Rotting and smelling odors will cause great suffering. When one has no suffering, one will have great hatred for everyone, and unpleasant visions will arise. They will wander around their former homes and beds, and relatives and acquaintances will eat by themselves and not give to them, calling their names and crying, talking about death, etc., which will make them very unhappy, and they will wander aimlessly. Just as the nature of the bardo of existence is classified in detail, since the present dream and the future bardo are of the same essence, there is no need to be picky about various ways of explaining it. Aha! At all those times, the thoughts of the coarse objects of external clinging ceased, and the knowing consciousness of internal clinging was liberated without support. The mind became clear in the space of emptiness and bliss. Through the light of direct experiential wisdom, I directly saw the face of the glorious Mahaguru. When I reported my experiences and realizations (28) in detail, I heard him say, "Your meditation is almost gone." He said, "All meditation is experience, attachment, and thought. When these disappear, experience disappears, and realization arises, which is a sign of seeing the truth beyond elaboration." The approach, accomplishment, and activities of the most secret heart practice have reached their peak. The symbolic material sacred image has obtained accomplishment.
