Ah! What use are relatives? What use are friends? At that time, only merit is the sole protection, and I have not relied on it! O Protector, due to my negligence, I did not know such fear, and for the sake of this impermanent life, I accumulated many sins. Even being led to the place where limbs are severed, I am terrified today, with a dry mouth, dark eye sockets, and so on, appearing different from before. The messengers of the Lord of Death, those with terrifying and dreadful faces, will seize me, (502) and I will be afflicted by great and terrible diseases, utterly miserable, what more needs to be said? Who will protect me well from this great fear? With eyes wide open in utter terror, I seek refuge in the four directions. Seeing that there is no refuge in the four directions, I will then be completely despondent. If there is no refuge in that place, what should I do then? Therefore, the Victorious One is the protector of beings, diligently striving to protect beings, possessing great power, able to dispel all fears, from this day forth, I take refuge in you. And the Dharma that you have realized, which can dispel the fear of samsara, and to the assembly of Bodhisattvas, likewise, I truly take refuge. Because I am extremely frightened, I offer myself to Samantabhadra, and also with myself, I offer this body to Manjushri. To the compassionate Lord Avalokiteshvara, whose actions are never mistaken, I also cry out in a miserable voice, praying for protection for me, who am full of sin. And to the noble Akashagarbha and Kshitigarbha, and to all the great compassionate protectors, from the depths of my heart, I seek refuge, crying out in anguish. Seeing whom, the messengers of the Lord of Death and other enemies will flee in terror to the ten directions, I take refuge in Vajrapani. In the past, I transgressed your commands, but now, seeing great fear, I beseech you for refuge, I pray that you quickly dispel the fear. Thus, transforming the words for the benefit of others. Thereafter, if it is related to purification, then it is showing the path: Listen, son of the deceased lineage! Samsara is a collection of suffering aggregates, actions are illusory, born of karma, dependent on karma. Therefore, do not be attached to it, the blessings of the Guru and the Three Jewels will appear in the realm of faith, generate devotion.

Now, son of good family! From here to the west, there is the Sukhavati realm, where the protector Amitabha resides. If one remembers him, you will also be reborn there. Abandon hesitation towards the name of that protector and go there! The consciousness to be purified takes the form of the syllable Hūṃ (藏文:ཧཱུྃ,梵文天城體:हुं,梵文羅馬擬音:hūṃ,漢語字面意思:吽). As soon as it is cast into Sukhavati, burn the evil spirits, in the mandala of the Buddhas, in that place of goodness and joy. So forth (504) made such prayers. Secondly, the yoga in between sessions: As with the general generation stage of mantras, there is no need to engage in the meaning of eliminating the extremes of permanence and annihilation. However, since the Sukhavati realm is the Buddha-land where the Buddha currently lives, one should constantly remember it in all activities, and practice familiarizing oneself with transforming ordinary appearances into the pure land. As it is said in the sutra: "Ananda! If there are beings who remember the Tathagata, constantly practice and increase immeasurable roots of virtue, and fix their minds on that Buddha-land. When they are near the time of death, the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Amitabha, with his color, shape, land, and attendant monastic community, will appear before them like emanations of the Buddha. In the great joy of seeing the Tathagata, they will abandon their bodies and be reborn in that Buddha-land through that samadhi and unspeakable remembrance." Therefore, in order to encourage the monk Dharma-born to fulfill the vows of the perfect prayer, if I attain enlightenment, if the excellent prayer does not achieve such excellent qualities, then the one with the ten powers, the incomparable place of giving, the lion among men, may I not become the essence of sentient beings. Any sentient being who hears my name, may they always be reborn in my pure land. Because my good prayer is fulfilled, sentient beings will come from many worlds. After they arrive in my pure land, they will not turn back after only one rebirth. Therefore, any Bodhisattva here, may my pure land also be like this, and my sound, name, and view as well.
