It is so. Thus it is said. The external dependent arising is shown by what is called the field of appearance and so on. In this field of appearance, there are five elements: earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Depending on these, mountains, forests, houses, and so on, all arise from conditioned causes. Therefore, samsara is also dependent arising. The internal dependent arising is shown by what is called ignorance and so on. The cause of samsara is ignorance, from which actions arise. Likewise, consciousness, name and form, contact, feeling, craving, grasping, existence, birth, aging, sickness (311), and death all depend on each other. The sequential connection up to old age and death is the internal dependent arising. If divided, it should be known as momentary dependent arising, continuous dependent arising, relational dependent arising, instantaneous dependent arising, dependent arising gathered by the three times, dependent arising gathered by the two aspects of cause and effect, and dependent arising gathered by the three completely afflicted ones. Among these, the momentary one is: the five aggregates at the time of experiencing afflictions in the previous life are called ignorance. Because ignorance is the main one, it is called that. For the others, also, by the name of the main one, actions and so on are considered as the five aggregates, and it should be known that all are the five aggregates. Actions are the five aggregates at the time of doing good and non-good deeds in the previous life. Consciousness is the five aggregates at the time when the consciousness thrown by them connects the continuity in the state of birth. Name and form are the five aggregates from birth in the womb until the eyes and so on have not yet emerged. Name is the four aggregates of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Form is the five of the state of the womb: slimy, soft, globular, hard, and limbs. The six sense sources are the five aggregates from when the eyes and so on emerge in the womb until the three have gathered and are unable to fully discern the object. Contact is when the three of sense faculty, object, and consciousness gather and are able to fully discern the object, producing feelings of pleasure and pain.

The five aggregates from ignorance to the inability to engage in sexual activity. Feeling is the five aggregates from the time of childhood when one knows the cause of happiness and suffering until one is unable to engage in sexual activity. Craving is the five aggregates of the stage when one is able to enjoy sexual activity, which is the stage of flourishing youth. Grasping is the increasing craving for wealth and grains, etc., which are the source of happiness, and the five aggregates of the stage of engaging in agriculture and commerce, etc., in order to obtain them. Existence is the five aggregates of the stage of projecting karma towards the next life when one grasps and works in this way. Birth is the five aggregates of the stage of transferring from this life after death to the next life's rebirth. Old age and death are the five aggregates of the basis of the next life's name (313) and form to feeling, which is the momentary dependent origination. This is the view of the Vaibhashikas, who say that it is also related to continuity. The Sutrantikas do not accept the momentary dependent origination, but accept the continuous dependent origination in this way: Ignorance is the mental factor that arises in opposition to wisdom, and it is the cause of arousing actions. The actions aroused by the actions are merit, non-merit, and unwavering actions. Consciousness is the karma that projects consciousness into the place of birth. Name and form are the five aggregates projected into the womb. The six sense bases are the arising of the eyes, etc. Contact is the mental factor that arises from the combination of object, sense faculty, and consciousness, and from the complete analysis of the object. Feeling is the happiness, suffering, and equanimity that arise from this. Craving is the attachment to the object of happiness. Grasping is the pursuit of that object. Existence is the karma, etc., that accomplishes the birth of the next life by those aroused. Birth is the karma that connects rebirth to the next life (314). Old age and death are birth in the next life, and after the end of life, one will die again, and they believe that the related dependent origination is also the same. Momentary dependent origination refers to the fact that even in a moment, the twelve branches of dependent origination are complete, and some
