And also, they accept the two, the nature of the ground, the wisdom Dharmakaya, as well as the spontaneously accomplished and uninterrupted establishments. Secondly, there are three refutations: In general, it is not permissible to consider the self-awareness of the two non-dual (293) ultimate Nirvana, and to consider all appearances as fabricated illusions, and that self-awareness is one with the truth; it is not permissible to consider the dependent, arising and ceasing phenomena as ultimate. Here, only a brief outline is mentioned, those who wish to know in detail should refer to other sources. The second part, the inner division of the Svatantrika Madhyamaka school, is explained by "How it appears" and so on. It is divided into two parts: the root explanation and the marginal examination. The first part is: How all that appears as the object of the six consciousnesses is established in conventional truth. For example, the characteristics of illusory horses and cattle, etc., in ultimate truth, no nature is established, like the sky, which is the view of the Svatantrika Madhyamaka. The second part is divided into lower and upper Svatantrika, the first aspect has two parts: stating the view and refuting it. The first part is: All phenomena are empty of inherent existence, like the nature of illusion, existing in both truths. Conventional truth is the collection of causes and conditions, and in appearance, like an illusory appearance, it is only in name that it can function, therefore it is true. Ultimate truth is the cause of the reversal of the conventional (294) part, whether the conditions are established or not, etc., although it is empty of the elaboration of names, words, and letters, etc., but like an image, the part that appears continuously in dependent origination is called illusion. Therefore, by accumulating the two accumulations like illusion, one obtains the fruit of enlightenment like illusion, and constantly abides in the nature of illusion, which is equipoise. By the way of illusion, activities arise, thus benefiting sentient beings like illusion. It is said in the Sutra: All phenomena are like dreams and illusions, Nirvana is also like dreams and illusions, and if there is a Dharma that is more excellent than Nirvana, that is also like dreams and illusions. Thus it is said. And in the Samadhiraja Sutra it is said: Ultimate truth is like a dream, and Nirvana is also the same as a dream. Whichever wise person practices in this way, that is said to be the supreme taming of the mind. Thus it is said.

Just as before many people, magicians conjure up the image of a snake, transforming it into horses, elephants, and various vehicles, likewise, all phenomena should be understood as those manifold unreal appearances. That is to say, impure illusion appears in the face of vast delusion, while pure illusion is cultivated as appearing on the path but without inherent existence. As for the result, the illusion-like state of inseparable Dharmakaya and Rupakaya resides in Akanistha, from which emanations arise as illusion-like states. Secondly, that view can be refuted by three kinds of reasoning: the absence of ultimate reality in nature, the impossibility of illusion in the face of reason, and the fact that it is not the ultimate intention of the Victors. First, ultimate reality, you should be subject to arising and ceasing, because illusion is subject to arising and ceasing. The constant is accepted. If you accept, then space should be of that nature, because it is what is signified by that. If you accept, then such space should be conditioned, because it is of that nature. That is entailed, because the subject is that. If you accept, then the statement in the Ratnagotravibhāga, "Earth depends on water, water on wind, wind thoroughly abides in space. Space does not abide in wind, water, and the element of earth," would be untenable, because you accept it. It cannot be accepted. Secondly, illusion is not established, because when measured by reason, no phenomenon is established when examined by time, conjunction, continuity, and momentariness. Therefore, it is not permissible to accept it as ultimate illusion. Thirdly, illusion is not the ultimate intention of the Buddhas, because it is not ultimate, because it has arising and ceasing. In the Compendium Sutra it says, "Constantly keep in mind this meaning: where does space not abide?" And in the Four Hundred Stanzas it says, "For one who does not assert 'exists,' 'does not exist,' or 'exists and does not exist,' even after a long time, no one can find fault." Other than that, the rest is the same as the previous conventional, although there are different views on ultimate reality, but I will not elaborate. Secondly, the view of the higher Svatantrika is that it is established in conventional truth as it abides in the form of dependent origination and illusion. Furthermore, depending on whether it is functional or non-functional, conventional truth is also divided into pure and impure. Thus, what appears is the truth of conventional reality, and that itself is intelligence.
