That is the meaning of cutting off. Second, regarding conduct: The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, between the accumulation path, rely on spiritual friends to listen and contemplate, while the Pratyekabuddhas: (289) Delight in being separated from the power of lineage, abandoning clamor, and achieving their own Bodhi through meditation. Third, the result of achievement: Gathering like a swarm of bees, practicing with dull faculties and small merits, many together, perhaps the result can be obtained in three lifetimes, the fastest being liberation through the three realms of existence. So it is said. Like a rhinoceros horn: Those with sharp faculties and great merits, dwelling alone, that is, it takes a hundred kalpas to achieve the result. Like the cause of a rhinoceros horn through a hundred kalpas. So it is said. Therefore, accumulating merit on the basis of the accumulation path, realizing the five paths on one seat, therefore establishing them as those with sharp faculties, while the former cannot do so. The Abhidharmakosha says: The Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas' Bodhi, all are obtained at the edge of one meditation. So it is said. Moreover, the supernormal powers of the Shravaka Arhats and the Pratyekabuddhas with dull faculties can see up to two thousand out of the three thousand worlds. Like a rhinoceros horn, they can see the three thousand worlds. Buddhas can see immeasurable. That same text says: Arhats, rhinoceros horns, Shravakas, etc., can see two thousand, three thousand, and immeasurable. Of the two, Mahayana Madhyamaka and Yogacara, in order to explain the former, the apprehended and apprehender are spoken of, etc. Of the root explanation and the marginal examination, the first is: Thus, the objects and subjects that appear as the apprehended Dharma and the apprehender person are all relative truth, because apart from that, the Dharmas do not have dualistic grasping, and considering this to be the ultimate truth is the tenet of the Mind-Only school. Second, it is divided into stating the tenet and refuting it. The first is: Although there is no external object, they also acknowledge true establishment, and they consider the wisdom of non-duality of the apprehended and apprehender to be self-aware and self-illuminating, to be the ultimate truth, therefore it is also called the Mind-Only school. If divided, then for the coarse form that appears to the root consciousness of each individual being's continuum, those who believe that it is established as it appears are the Real Aspectarians, and those who do not believe it is the False Aspectarians. Among them, the basis of the arrangement is divided into object and subject. The first is: They believe that all knowable things can be summarized into the three: the completely imputed, the other-powered, and the thoroughly established. The first is further divided into two, namely, the completely imputed with broken characteristics.

Examination is: Like a rabbit's horn, it is impossible to exist, and what is examined by discrimination is like the self of person and the self of phenomena. The Lord of Reasoning said: The meaning of examination by discrimination is the nature of the thoroughly imputed (291). Discrimination is dependent on others, and emptiness is completely established by it. So it is said. The enumeration of the thoroughly imputed is: Individually assigning terms to phenomena from form to omniscience. Dependence on others has two types, pure and impure. The former is established in the presence of the vision of the noble ones, and the latter is the rule established in the common appearance of worldly people. There are also two types of the thoroughly established: The thoroughly established that is the unchanging basis is suchness, and the thoroughly established that is the path without error is the wisdom of non-discriminating mind. The thoroughly imputed non-reality and the dependence on others, the two thoroughly established, are considered to be truly established. All phenomena included in the conventional truth are included in the thoroughly imputed and the dependence on others. The ultimate truth and the thoroughly established are considered to be the same in meaning. The selflessness of phenomena is the nature of the thoroughly established, and the selflessness of person is considered to be the thoroughly imputed. Second, those who accept the eight consciousnesses, the alaya consciousness is the main consciousness whose essence is unobscured and unspecified. It also exists in the continuum of the Arhat, so it is unobscured and unspecified (292). It exists in the continuum of those who have cut off the root of virtue, so it is not virtuous. It exists in the continuum of the higher realms, so it is also not non-virtuous. The afflicted mind is considered to be one whose object is the alaya, with the aspect of self-appearing mind, and whose essence is unobscured and unspecified. The nature of the path is: That is, the selflessness of person, that is, the person is free from self-sufficient and independent reality; and the emptiness of the duality of grasper and grasped as different entities, and the selflessness of phenomena, which is the thoroughly imputed as established by its own nature. Focusing on these, practicing in conjunction with the accumulation of the three immeasurable kalpas, gradually traversing the five paths and ten bhumis, completely abandoning the afflictive obscurations of the self-grasping of person and the cognitive obscurations of the self-grasping of phenomena, is considered to be the attainment of enlightenment. The result is: the three types of nirvana with remainder, without remainder, and without abiding, as well as the nature of the three bodies of the Buddha, the dharmakaya is the nature of abandonment, the svabhavikakaya, and the realization.
