Through the practice of virtuous and non-virtuous actions, the circumstances of sentient beings vary in terms of high and low status, and their appearances also differ. This is how cause and effect are formed, as well as the two aspects of what to adopt and abandon. If one thinks that the karmic ripening of actions currently being performed is slow and will not mature, (this is not the case), as stated in the scriptures, "The land is fertile," and so on. Just as the land is fertile, although the shadows of birds flying in the sky may not be visible for a time, when tangible objects and the realization of separation reach the ground, they will roll down like something falling onto the chest. Once the fruits of any action accumulate and the time is ripe, they will become even more apparent. As stated in the scriptures: "The actions performed by sentient beings, even after hundreds of thousands of eons, will not be lost. When the causes and conditions come together, their results will definitely mature." Furthermore, as stated in the "Letter to a Friend": "Whatever sinful deeds are committed, although they are not immediately cut off like a sword, when death approaches, the karmic results will eventually manifest." In addition, perverse actions have inconceivable power, as stated in the scriptures, "Merit," and so on. Non-meritorious actions, exemplified by the fire of the horse-faced Yama, can cause the waves of wealth in the heavenly and human realms to dry up. Moreover, they can destroy the precious human body, which is like a jewel ship, the autonomous basis for attaining the state of omniscient Buddhahood. Its metaphors and meanings are explained in detail in scriptures such as the "Sutra on Mindfulness," the "Sutra on Hundreds of Actions," and the "Extensive Play Sutra," which should be consulted. Thus, words of rebuke were spoken. In order to refute the violation of the three vows, etc., as stated in the scriptures, "Torture," and so on. Those who are very brave and steadfast in enduring torture, because they fear falling into the lower realms (29), have not established camps for battlefields such as hell in the lands of armies possessing the merit of the ten virtues and warriors wearing strong armor. So, who is it? It is those who violate their vows; all those who practice the ten non-virtuous actions are under your control. Among them, some violate the discipline of their training, some violate their life and lifespan, and some violate their vows.

The capable ones, some for the sake of the sacred Dharma, some for the sake of worldly possessions, some for the sake of considering their own face, and some for the sake of considering the shame of others, commit sinful deeds very often. Like this, even if one does non-virtuous deeds for the sake of others, the ripening results will not be shared. As it is said, "For what reason?" For what reason? For the sake of the object of offering, that is, the object of offering, as well as relatives, retinues, and countries, etc., in order to protect them, one commits sins of great power that ripen by their own nature, like drinking two examples of sin, placing them on an elephant. Even if one unties it from that, wraps it with the rope of renunciation, and then lets it act recklessly, the ripening results will not be shared with them except for the doer himself. Thus, the noble teacher also said, "Your Brahmins, monks, gods, and, guests, parents, and consorts, and, for the sake of the retinue (30), do not commit sins, there is no share for anyone in the ripening results of hell." Also, if one dwells in the eight worldly dharmas and does not seek the noble path, as it is said, "Gaining," etc. Greed for wealth, etc., that is, attachment and clinging, only desiring the means of one's own happiness. Hearing pleasant words, one gladly accepts them, and hearing praise and commendation, one's pride blazes like a fuel, becoming arrogant and conceited. From that, if one does not gain, is not happy, is not pleasant, and is blamed, these four cause unhappiness and are blamed. Therefore, these children with small minds who have no thought of eternal happiness are deceived by the false pictures of the eight worldly dharmas. The Friend's Letter says, "The worldly wise ones, gaining and not gaining, and, happiness and unhappiness, pleasant and unpleasant, and, praise and blame, these are called the eight worldly dharmas, may you not let me become what you think in your heart." Furthermore, in order to show that there are also thirteen branches of deception, as it is said, "Lineage and form," etc. Like this, lineage and, form and, power, etc., included, learning and, being proud of youth, these five raise their heads high. Laziness (31), which is the opposite of diligence, wastes time, like hiding in a hat, not
