Praising oneself and spreading slander about others in any direct or indirect way; filling the mind with the five afflictions and wielding harsh words like a venomous snake, not only indulging in licentious behavior but also thinking that wealth and power are eternal, even though they are impermanent and unstable, being ungrateful and never satisfied no matter how one is treated, thus distorting the image of perception (248), striving to fan the flames of hatred burning in the heart, driven by the winds of slander. Like a monkey, due to its unstable nature, hastily causing all kinds of harm to everyone. Like a crocodile, greedily opening the belly of sin, never satisfied. Like a venomous snake emitting poisonous fumes, destroying everyone it encounters with the poisonous fumes of deceit. Like fire, disregarding cause and effect, completely burning the trees of virtue, in order to avoid these, one should stay far away from the friendship of inferior children. The faults of places are shown by words such as "the faults of places." The five desires are more dangerous than poison because their maturation is harsh. Although they taste like sweet honey in the moment of fleeting enjoyment, poison only destroys one lifetime, but they destroy all lifetimes, to the point that no secret mantra or medicine can cure them. Therefore, until one tames the wild thoughts of one's mind like a drunken elephant, there is nothing greater than the five desires of delusion. Until the day when body and consciousness separate and the aggregates of the body are placed in a coffin, one should draw near to the peaceful forests (249), as mentioned above, draw near to rock shelters and the depths of the forests. As the words of solitude say: As long as the body of the four elements relies on the coffin, one should go to the monastery and practice peaceful meditation. Thus it is said. The merits of going there are shown by words such as "the edge." The edge refers to the end of a village, and a nomadic monastery is a remote place that is at least more than a yojana away. There, there is no mental torment, it is pleasing.

Knowing the weariness of fields, abandoning the activities of commerce and agriculture, as well as sinful friends, not being troubled by the livelihood of taxes and rations, without birds and wild animals making unpleasant sounds, with vast resources such as clear flowing water and fruits of edible trees, spacious mansions in caves of rocky mountains and leaves of trees intertwined with each other, being comfortable when associating in the shade of trees, and repeatedly contemplating such virtues in mind, alas, when will I be able to live together with them in that place? Thinking thus, one should generate joy. The "Letter to a Friend" (250) says: Possessing trees with roots, fruits, bark, and leaves that are complete, forests without dependence, mountain streams flowing coolly downwards, places without stagnation. On the wide riverbanks, adorned with falling fruits and flowers, there is nothing lacking in delightful places, why be deceived by a hellish home and stay there? So forth. Praising from the perspective of benefits, "There" and so on, it is said that in that place, the fresh guests of the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter, as soon as the former passes, the latter arrives, the forests displaying the uncertain transformations of bark, leaves, and fruits, using "I am not an afflicted one" as the argument for the words of the Tathagata, declare, "Whoever today takes seven steps towards that place, their merit is immeasurable," those who desire liberation, please look! So forth. The inanimate forest, like a sentient being, encourages people towards the Dharma, this is quoted from the source of Tantric teachings. That is, the noble "King of Samadhi Sutra" says: If someone were to offer flowers, incense (བདུག་སྤོས་,धूप,dhūpa,焚香), food, and comfortable implements to all the Buddhas for an eon, it is better to turn towards a solitary place with a mind of extreme renunciation and take about seven steps, this has a greater immeasurable accumulation of merit than the former. Completely abandon concern for body and life, and meditate on emptiness and peace as supreme. With diligence and a mind of extreme diligence, live in solitude like a wild animal. So forth. The "Letter to a Friend" says: In the wide mountain valleys, without men and women, there is great ease, resources
