Thus it is said, in order to clear away the dirt of sluggishness and laziness, with the gentle flow of diligence, like the four excellent rivers, the Ganges (གངྒ་, Sanskrit: gaṅgā, Roman transliteration: Ganga, literal meaning: Ganges), the Sita (སི་ཏ།, Sanskrit: sītā, Roman transliteration: Sita, literal meaning: Sita), the Sindhu (སིནྡྷུ།, Sanskrit: sindhu, Roman transliteration: Sindhu, literal meaning: Indus), and the Pakshu (པཀྵུ་, Sanskrit: pakṣu, Roman transliteration: Pakṣu, literal meaning: Pakshu), if it shows falling into deviation, like a stream or small flow of water drying up, not reaching the ocean of omniscient wisdom in all aspects, until then, the vigor of the three doors moving and swift should not be diminished, as it is said in the 'Mindfulness Sutra': The one root of all afflictions, is laziness, in whom is it? Whoever has one laziness, they have no Dharma at all. Thus it is said. Now, at the beginning of explaining the Perfection of Meditation, first showing the conducive conditions for accomplishing meditation, first, in order to show the qualities of the forest, it is shown by 'forest' and so on, any place, forests and meadows dense with various flowers, swans and geese whose behavior is not rough, extremely peaceful and gentle, are shown and reside for a long time. The beautiful rocky mountains, with shapes like cliffs and saddles, the mountainside has birds, the valley is adorned with various young animals. Are there other delightful features besides that? Yes, the extremely delightful forest, like the form of a goddess, the girdle is a net and half-net hanging formed by the entanglement of young cotton tree branches, the tender branches of the branches sway, leaves hanging like strings of pearls, gently swaying in the breeze. Because of fear of harm, the wings whose hearts are not frightened, have the brilliance of Indranila sapphires, coral-like lures tremble, the amorous cuckoos, in that nature of samsara, transmit letters of tales that generate weariness, like the melody of a lute, slowly emit beautiful sounds. Thus it is said. In the 'Friendly Epistle' it says: The orb of the moon is adorned nearby by its expansion, the girdle is embraced by the entanglement of heavy rain clouds, the view of the forest on the mountain peak, without attachment to that, the nature of swaying like the wind, is the fortune of a long life. Thus it is said. The teacher Hero says: Bees humming and singing with fatness

In the forest, the branches of the trees dance, and the birds sing sweetly. Cool breezes gently blow, and the flowing streams of the mountain creeks make murmuring sounds. Beautiful wild animals run and play, and the flowers bloom like brocade clusters. Sandalwood and other fragrances emit fragrant scents. The merits of the monastery are like this, benefiting oneself and others, without seeking any reward. Why should a yogi with many spiritual friends retreat? Worldly people are not like this. Thus it is said. Therefore, encouraging people to go to such forests, it is said, "There," and so on. It means that those who want to meditate should quickly go to the place just mentioned. Why? Because worldly perfect enjoyment is like a huge curtain of dense clouds, in which human life is like lightning that flashes momentarily. The three thieves of the suffering of change, the suffering of suffering, and the pervasive suffering of conditioning, pour down like rain, creating destruction in the present and future. Karma is like a rushing river on a steep mountain, noisy and incessant. Running in the wilderness, the waves of endless desire to accumulate, protect, and increase surge, and a little wealth leads to pride and complacency, poverty leads to worry and stinginess, and the arising and growth of greed, these three, are like swift messengers, at the end of life, ultimately drifting endlessly in the immeasurable ocean of suffering of the evil realms from which there is no escape. (247) Material possessions are destined to be the source of suffering, which is indicated by "deception" and so on. Precious wealth, which the cloud of deception always hides in the heart, is like the crest jewel of the Naga king; the more one possesses it, the more it is the source of suffering. Therefore, one should avoid the harm of enemies and thieves to simple belongings, and obtaining contentment is to go to the peak of perfect wealth. The faults of associating with ordinary people are indicated by "each" and so on. The nature of ordinary people is like that of young children, and should be discarded far away. Why? Because children are always covered by clouds of wrongdoing. Which ones?
