Thus it is declared that regarding the Lesser Vehicle as a pond is to be deficient in the realm and lineage of the Great Vehicle's Bodhicitta. Where is the mind of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers who think only of their own benefit? (151) Awakening this mind through the power of a guide who unites emptiness and compassion, entering the Great Vehicle like an ocean, and going to the island of the omniscient Victor's state, like a jewel. How does one go? By relying on the ship of the six perfections. Moreover, the power of the five perfections, such as generosity, whose nature of not surpassing the peak of existence is not indicated by scriptural authority, is like iron ore, degenerating into a narrow-minded activity. Once it is coated with the elixir of skillful means and wisdom, like the art of transmuting gold, it immediately becomes a friend to all embodied beings, and thus becomes invaluable. How is this so? Why is there kindness? And so on, has been explained. Here, wherever it may be, beings in the three realms have the possibility of falling into dangerous places. Casting the oil of great compassion for the sake of all beings is skillful means, and seeing its nature as one taste in emptiness is wisdom. Thus, defining the nature of Bodhicitta as mutually integrated, and actually applying it to the realm of those to be tamed, namely, focusing on immeasurable beings, immeasurable assemblies, immeasurable dharmas, and immeasurable wisdom, that is, the four immeasurables. As a foundation builder, it is only by truly studying the order of the precepts (152), including both the aspiration and engagement Bodhicitta, that one can arise. The individual nature of the four immeasurables has been explained by love and so on. Among them, the nature of love is to wish that all other beings may have happiness, just as a mother who is extremely fond of her only child cherishes him, gathering body, possessions, and all pure virtues into one place, benefiting others, and if harm is done in return, then diligently practicing patience. The nature of compassion is the inability to bear the suffering of others, like a dam collapsing, the power of the mind shaking very strongly, and seeing that all six types of beings are bound by the cause and effect of suffering alone, begging like a beggar.

The nature of joy is to see others possessing perfect enjoyment, without jealousy, but with a mind that is even more joyful than when one obtains it oneself, cultivating the wish for the well-being of all. Thinking that they have obtained it through the power of their accumulated merit from the past, and rejoicing in this, wishing that they may never be separated from it in the future. The nature of equanimity is not to do good or harm to the object, but to completely let go, not to distinguish between love and hatred towards friends and enemies, but to be impartial in this way, extending to equality. Towards enemies, friends, and neutrals, first, three concepts arise, and the third is also seen as belonging to the second. Towards the object that can bestow benefit, equally bestowing benefit, this virtuous action with a target should be mixed with the nectar of no target. Regarding the opposing factors of the four immeasurables, it is advised to abandon the four abodes of Brahma, etc. That is, to cultivate loving-kindness in order to hope to be born in the desire realm, the miserly compassion of fearing the decline of one's own side, the arrogant joy of rejoicing in the prosperity of one's own lineage, dharma, and tradition, the ignorant equanimity of staying like a piece of wood without paying attention to cause and effect, these are not the path to liberation, but are close to the four abodes of Brahma, etc. Therefore, abandon such subtle attachments. After abandoning, it shows this aspect of transcending the world. In this state, it is related to the path of peaceful nirvana (154), its object of focus is all sentient beings, but it is not considered to be truly existent, but as it appears, without inherent existence, like the nature of phenomena playing like the moon in water, when this form of meditation becomes powerful, it becomes the cause of generating both the aspiration and action bodhicitta, therefore, the Buddhas and noble ones consider it to be the four immeasurables with superior characteristics compared to the former. There are ways to meditate in order, starting with loving-kindness, and there are also ways to practice equanimity first, but in general, one should focus on the state that is easy to arise for any object of focus. Regarding the order, there is an antidote to purification and liberation, however, it is said that after cultivating loving-kindness becomes powerful, attachment will arise.
