It is mixed Dharma. What are the eighteen that are spoken of? They are omniscience and the Dharmakaya. The meaning of the first verse is that when explaining the thirty-seven branches of enlightenment below, the Dharma of realization will be taught. The three are: one with form looking at form, one without form looking at form, and looking at ugliness. (131) The four formless realms and cessation together are five, and these eight each combined with liberation are the eight liberations. The qualities are: the appearance of inner form has not ceased, so the attachment to the appearance of objects is reversed, this is the first. Not focusing on inner form, so the attachment to inner and outer is ceased, this is the second. Viewing all dharmas as being of one taste in emptiness, being liberated from all grasping, this is the third. Seeing the meaning of mind itself as the sky, this is the fourth. Realizing that everything is the play of mind and wisdom, this is the fifth. Not having grasper and grasped in either inner or outer, this is the sixth. The sphere of activity of elaboration and signs is pacified, this is the seventh. Never having attachment to all dharmas of samsara and nirvana, this is the eighth. The essence of the four dhyanas and the four formless realms, and cessation, each combined with samadhi, are the nine successive abidings. The word "exhaustion" is added to each, the five great elements and the four root colors. The birth place based on the consciousness aggregate, in the manner of exhaustion, there are ten types. Overpowering with shape and color, there are four of each, which are the eight spheres of mastery. Without afflictions and knowing aspirations. Most of the rest has been explained above, and should be understood, and some will also be shown below. The teacher shows the complete enjoyment body with five certainties to the retinue of bodhisattvas abiding on the ten bhumi paths, like an image appearing in a mirror. As it says in the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds: "The peaceful body is clear like a wish-fulfilling tree, like a wish-fulfilling jewel, without thought, it constantly abides to benefit beings, this is appearance free from elaboration." In order to show the qualities of the Dharma, it is said, "The Dharma is," and so on. The supreme Dharma is the means of accumulating the two accumulations and the ladder for traversing the five paths, and the truth of cessation of nirvana, these three are the content to be declared, and there are also the fruit and the self of the action.

Considering the abiding in the two truths, the Protector Maitreya said: "Whatever is free from attachment by whatever, that which has the nature of the two truths is the Dharma. Freedom from attachment itself is the cessation, and is included by the truths of the path." As it is said, the ultimate truth and the conventional truth, that is, the two truths, are the two aspects of cessation and path. What is to be expressed is as just said, and what expresses it is words. Relying on these two, they are known as the Dharma of scripture and realization. The Dharma of scripture is the twelve branches of scripture, and in the Great Commentary on the Eight Thousand Stanzas: "Sutras, songs, prophecies, verses, self-statements, causes, stories, metaphors, such statements, births extremely extensive and vast, unprecedented Dharma and treatises, the holy teachings are the twelve branches." And so on. If divided from the perspective of antidotes, then as previously said, the first five are the Vinaya Pitaka of the Hearers; the middle three are its Vinaya; among the last four, the Jataka, the Vinaya Pitaka of the Bodhisattvas, the extremely extensive, and the two unprecedented ones are its Sutra Pitaka; the last one is the Abhidharma Pitaka common to both Hearers and Bodhisattvas. Thus it is divided into the three Pitakas. Since it is included by the vehicle of the Solitary Realizers and Hearers, it is not spoken of separately. Among these, since there are countless doors of skillful means, the greatest is the Vidyadhara Pitaka, which is taught in the tenth chapter. These (134), due to the cause of the master, from the name and words to the letters of the book, are established and abide, and are the basis of the vows of the refuge object. The Dharma of realization, starting from the four mindfulnesses, gradually and so on, slightly separated, the basis of the qualities of realization is the ground, as it is said in the Commentary on the Eight Thousand Stanzas: "Because it becomes the basis of qualities, it is the ground." Among these, they are divided into inferior and superior, the former having eight grounds and the latter having ten grounds. The former is as said in the Intermediate Mother: the eighth ground of lineage, the thinned ground of seeing, the ground free from attachment, the ground of accomplished realization, the ground of Hearers, the ground of Solitary Buddhas, that is, the common ground of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. As it is also said in the Garland of Jewels: "Just as in the Hearer vehicle, it is taught that there are eight grounds of Hearers, likewise in the Great Vehicle, there are ten grounds of Bodhisattvas." And so on. That which becomes the basis of the ground is definitely the five paths.
