If explained in this way, it is soft because it clearly shows the roots of virtue in the realm of sentient beings; it is gentle because it touches upon happiness in this life; it is pleasing because of its good meaning; it is satisfying because of its beautiful writing; it is pure because it arises from the unsurpassed realm beyond the world; it is immaculate because it is free from all latent habitual tendencies of afflictions; it is extremely clear because its words and letters are widely known; it is melodious and pleasing because it possesses the power and qualities to destroy the views of all heretics with evil intelligence (596); it is worthy of being heard because it possesses the inevitable arising of practice; it is invincible because it cannot be defeated by all opposing debaters; it is beautiful because it purifies everything; it is subdued because it is the antidote to desire and other afflictions; it is not harsh because the method of establishing precepts is easy; it is not vulgar because it correctly shows the method of liberation; it is well-disciplined because it shows the discipline of all three vehicles; it is pleasing to the ear because it is the antidote to distraction; it makes the body calm because it generates samadhi; it makes the mind calm because it generates the supreme joy of insight; it makes the heart rejoice because it cuts off doubt; it generates joy and happiness because it eliminates wrong views and uncertainty; it is completely free from suffering because there is no regret in practice; it is to be fully known because it is the basis of perfect hearing; it is to be fully understood because it is the basis of perfect wisdom arising from thought; it is extremely clear because the teacher teaches the Dharma without concealing his examples; it makes those who have already attained their own benefit (597) very happy; it is to be manifestly rejoiced because it should not be rejoiced by those who have not yet attained their own benefit; it is fully known because it correctly shows the inconceivable dharmas; it is to be fully understood because it correctly shows the inconceivable dharmas; it is logical because it does not contradict valid cognition; for those to be tamed

Because it shows the correct reasoning, it is related; because it does not speak meaningless words, it is free from the fault of repetition; because it makes all gatherings of heretics afraid, it has the power of a lion's roar; because the voice is extremely vast, it has the sound of an elephant; because it is extremely profound, it has the sound of a dragon; because it is worthy of being heard, it has the sound of a horse king; because it is extremely pleasant to hear, it has the song of a Gandharva; because it does not speak in two ways, it has the sound of a Kalavinka; because it is heard far away, it has the sound of Brahma; because it is the forerunner of all accomplishments, it has the sound of a Shangshang bird; because it is not something that can be surpassed, it is as pleasant as the voice of the Lord of the Gods; because it is the forerunner of overcoming all demons and opponents, it has the sound of a drum (598); because praise does not bring all afflictions, it is not arrogant; because belittling does not bring discouragement, it is not low; because it follows all the characteristics of sound, such as Sanskrit; because it does not speak with concealment, it is without bias; because it makes the activities of those to be tamed close at all times, it is not incomplete; because it does not rely on gain and respect, it is not discouraged; because it is free from fear, it is not weak; because it is unborn, it is very joyful; because it possesses expertise in all fields of knowledge, it is universal; because it completely accomplishes all the affairs of sentient beings, it is inexhaustible; because it is without interruption, the activity is continuous; because it is close in various ways, it is expression; because the sound exists in many forms, it is the perfection of all sounds; because the wisdom from one to many is close, it satisfies all the senses; because it is done as promised, it is not deceitful; because it is completely combined at the time of attainment, it is unchanging; expression (599) is slow and coherent, so it is not hasty; because hearing his voice is the same far and near, it is universally known; because all worldly affairs are transformed into the Dharma of metaphors, it possesses excellence in all ways, this is the limb of speech.
