And the two, spontaneously accomplished and ultimately perfected, primordial purity, stainless, the basis for liberation. Although it is permissible to apply the term as if they were the same substance, it is crucial to understand the difference between what can be done and what cannot be done, as it is the basis for subsequent (528) confusion. Thus, the wisdom possessing the two knowledges is not attained by reaching the basis of spontaneous accomplishment, but by being liberated into the expanse of primordial purity, free from elaboration. Similarly, the primordial purity that is the place of liberation in the expanse of the fruition, and the primordial purity that is the present awareness of the path of meditative equipoise. Even if one remains equally without bias or partiality, the former, the place of liberation itself, is accompanied by subtle aspects of wind and mind. It is the primordial purity that does not abide in either samsara or nirvana, both of which are completely purified. The latter, at the time of the path, is accompanied by the impure influence of wind and mind, and is defiled and burdened by the defilements of mind and mental factors. It only occasionally abides in the nature of phenomena, and there is no mingling of simultaneous and subsequent states. Similarly, the luminous clarity of emptiness and form in the bardo of dharmata, and the illusory body in the form of a deity accustomed to the conceptual generation stage, although they appear to be the same deity form, there is a great difference between appearing in the pure realm of the sambhogakaya and being liberated or not liberated in an instant upon recognizing it. Even among the extraordinary common tantras, those who have entered this most extraordinary path and have vows, meeting the sambhogakaya of the expanse gathered by the appearance of the tenth-level bodhisattvas (529), is not impossible. How should one think? The marks and signs of the form of that teacher are arranged to emanate in the gate of self-appearing spontaneous accomplishment, like a mirror and reflection of self-nature. Having directly heard the Dharma from the Buddha, one quickly goes to the state of union, which does not require learning. Relying on the empty aspect of primordial purity, awareness arises as free from elaboration, thus exhausting the nature of emptiness. Relying on the appearing aspect of spontaneous accomplishment, it arises as the clear light with substance, thus exhausting it. Among these two, first, the way of showing the view of original liberation like the sky is said to be "outward," and so on. Therefore, this is the supreme and ultimate unchanging vajra path. This primordial purity of awareness, liberated from the beginning, possesses the three doors of liberation, that is, all emptiness, without self-nature.
