Taking the navel as primary, when the wind-mind abides in the central channel, one will attain the Dharma-eye free from defilements, thus being free from the adherence to view, meditation, and conduct. Mahamudra is common to all tantras, the name for seeing the truth is Kagyu. The meditation stages of the four yogas, etc., mastering the key points is the medicine against aging and death. Dzogchen is about arising and ceasing, the clinging to samsara and nirvana is the realm of Dharma. Dzogchen is inexpressible and beyond mind. The Lamdre (Path and Fruit) takes the generation stage as the path, and considers the completion stage as the fruit. The philosophical school asserts the three self-natures. The classification of the three types of individuals, although it is the path of the Buddha's teachings, but Jowo (Atisha) in the Kadampa (in 1822 AD), only adheres to his own school. The protector Tara also incidentally speaks of the Shentong (empty of other) view. The two chariots of Gelug (the two great commentators, Dharmakirti and Dignaga) and the six ornaments (six great scholars of Nalanda), claim that their doctrine is no different from reality, which causes the entire Tibet to misunderstand view, meditation, and conduct. I, because I have not engaged in study and contemplation, have stayed in rock caves for a long time, so I think that all those are taking desire and fear as truth, and are dharmas established by conceptual thought. After realizing the view of self-seeing, benefit sentient beings; meditation is self-liberation, unobstructed space. Conduct is accumulating the path of accumulation, abandoning evil deeds, and accumulating virtuous deeds on the path of preparation. Even if it is said that after realizing the path of seeing, one should mainly benefit sentient beings, but they protect the bhikkhu of the great household who has abandoned the small household, the religion of the outsiders. If those classifications are spoken of as they are, it will cause great conflict. Therefore, establishing the correct path of the teachings, with scriptural authority (in 1823 AD) and logical reasoning, composing the treatise "Treasury of Qualities", and writing the commentaries "Truthful Explanations", the two chariots and six ornaments, approaching a thousand pages. If after reading these, you gain the courage to refute and establish, please speak freely. The throne successor of Tsurphu asked, what are the differences in view, meditation, conduct, and result among the various religions of Tibet? The Dzogchenpa Rangjung Dorje answered thus. The excellent self-nature is the inexpressible, inconceivable view. The experience of luminosity and emptiness deceives many meditators. Self-luminous, unarisen, and unceasing is meditation. Seeing the thorns of conceptual thought disturbing samadhi. If each individual's self-aware wisdom is not mistaken, then no matter how one acts, it will become the path. Spoken by the Dzogchenpa Rangjung Dorje. The key points of view, meditation, and conduct are clearly established. View (1824 AD)

In the realm of immaculate sky, meditation dawns like the sun's rays. To the one whose conduct is in harmony with the times, to the supremely intelligent one, I bow. When establishing view through learning, it is necessary to combine scriptural authority and reasoning. When establishing meditation through experience, distinguish between mind and awareness. Conduct is the three types of discipline, combined with the accumulations of the five paths. Now, to meditate on the meaning of these, I will explain it in a way that is easy to understand for those with little learning, like Kusulu. What is called "view" is when one's own mind is relaxed and at ease, without calculating "this is" or "this is not," and it is not like falling asleep or fainting. Awareness is clear and without inherent existence, vast and not falling into ordinariness, impossible to express in words, impossible to conceive in thought, not touching on the assertions of philosophical tenets—this is view (825). Do not be distracted by it. Do not meditate. When self-recognition is not mixed with the artifice of thinking "I know," maintaining that with a stream of mindfulness is called meditation. Conduct is not delighting in the good and striving to accomplish it, nor is it being saddened by the bad and striving to prevent it. It is naturally arising, without acceptance or rejection. However, for beginners, this is difficult to put on the path, so they do not respect the results of actions, nor do they become attached. The four immeasurables, such as love and compassion, are the unmistaken cause of bodhicitta, so in the post-meditation period, not separating from them completes the accumulation of merit. Conceptual thoughts are the self-expression of the mind, so even when they arise, do not suppress them. Do not remember them, do not think about them, do not analyze them. Looking at the source of their arising is called unborn (826), because they arise from emptiness, and like clouds dissolving in the sky, they return to their own place. If one looks outward at the object of arising, one follows the five aggregates and the six sense bases, so the root of delusion is not cut off. To summarize, great meditators accomplish all three—view, meditation, and conduct—with a single mindfulness. Intermediate ones maintain the nature of clarity and emptiness with mindfulness as a bird scarer. As for lesser beginners, in the state of thinking "I will not be distracted," that clarity and emptiness is view. The mindfulness that does not forget that is meditation. Actions without pretense or hypocrisy, without attachment, are conduct. Recognizing one's own nature is view. Not forgetting is meditation.
