Cutting off the suffering of death completely. Thus it is said. Its meaning is not that for the noble ones, once they have taken a physical body, there will be no occurrence of aging, sickness, and death, even in the slightest manifestation. Rather, it is said that the self-nature of equality that sees the truth is separated from the five aggregates. And also, in the post-attainment state, it is not stained by the impurities of the eight consciousness aggregates, and does not dwell together with the phenomena of samsara, therefore it is said in that way. Even so, what hope is there for ordinary individuals? However, merely recognizing the nature of mind and slightly grasping emptiness makes a great difference in destroying the clinging to reality. Therefore, do not place the burden of illness on the mind (776), but sustain naked awareness in the midst of illness. Even if one dies now, death is the great path for all. Turn your mind towards the sacred Dharma. Abandon your homeland. Meet with a qualified lama. Hear the profound and secret Dharma. Because you know the key secret of equal taste, there is no regret. If you go to the next world, even if some ignorant people are not afraid of various punishments for the sake of this life alone, and allow themselves to be dominated by fire, water, and wild animals, then you should be happy now, and elevate your awareness in this way. Because experiencing karma is the law of nature, the heavy negative karma accumulated in previous lives that would cause rebirth in the lower realms is now ripening on this special body, cutting off the root of experiencing retribution in other lifetimes. In the future, obtaining a body of excellent higher realms, possessing the interdependent conditions (777) for accomplishing enlightenment, is the kindness of the lama. It is the blessing of the Dharma. It is the power of practice. Just as when Shakyamuni Buddha was about to attain enlightenment at dawn, the armies of Mara swarmed in, you should be happy now, and strive diligently in equal taste. This was also said by Dokhampa Jigme Tharpa, when he was tormented by a severe illness, by Dzogchenpa Rangjung Dorje. The Rules of Pal Tsering Jong. Homage to Dondrup, the master of the teachings who accomplishes all aims. The rules to be considered by those who enter the practice community of Pal Tsering Jong. A gathering of monks and a flock of geese live in a group, so it is necessary to rely solely on organizational structure. First, the thought of entering the door of the teachings is aroused by renunciation. If something like placing (778) fried food in front of someone with a bile disease occurs,

From the perspective of fear protection and good wishes, it is far more important than seemingly strict appearances. If this is not achieved, one will fall into hundreds of faults in this life or in the family, so one always has a mind filled with unnecessary aversion to everything. One must possess the qualities of taming one's mind and having a heart as soft as cotton. If this is not achieved, one's own excellent thoughts will be wasted internally, and externally one will not be able to attract the minds of others. Faults will arise from the complaints of householders. One's own unvanquished thoughts, like a forest of life, will cause fellow practitioners to reject each other due to the evil influence of jealousy and strife. One enjoys saying hurtful words and blaming others. Like a water bird waiting for fish (779), thinking about what kind of faults one can find in others, this kind of thinking exists in any monastery, large or small, in this degenerate age, and is the root of all faults, so one must learn to cultivate pure appearances towards oneself and others. So, what is the necessity or the main point of entering the Buddhist teachings? In the sacred Vinaya it says: Do no evil, practice perfect virtue, tame your mind, this is the teaching of the Buddha. Therefore, one should respect the precepts as the foundation of all virtues. It depends on pure precepts, pure vows, increasing practice, abandoning worldly affairs, and so on. If one does things that contradict the four root vows, one will become a thief of the Dharma, so one must stay away. Thereafter, for the remaining precepts (780), such as observing prohibitions, even if a small group like birds cannot fully comply, there is no fault. One must pay attention to clothing and behavior that harm the image of the Dharma, and not drink alcohol immoderately. One must take seriously the essence of mountain Dharma and oral instructions. Those who enter here are not merely putting on appearances to block the door in front, but have taken on the responsibility of seeking liberation, and it is entirely voluntary. From the appropriate time in autumn until the 25th of the tenth month at the end of the year, it is an important special time to prepare food, clothing, and other necessities for the Sangha. After that, due to sunlight or other special reasons such as death, one must go out for special purposes.
