Me too. From the point that memory can grasp, the mind abides in a state of clear emptiness (749), or, again, one focuses intensely on the object of memory, or, again, the sounds of the five senses do not cease, but the consciousness does not conceptualize anything. If one relies on memory in these three ways, then these three ways can also become the basis for the arising of the samadhi of childish play. Nowadays, all those who boast of having meditative experience, although they recognize memory as the nature of reality, because of the connection between the senses and consciousness, they merely enjoy the objects of the five senses and then return to the clear and non-conceptual state of consciousness. The chapter on the collection of samadhi states: "Samadhi is also very stable, but if one clings to it, it is called childish play, and one will never enter nirvana." Therefore, this is merely the cause for attaining the samadhi of the peak of existence (750), and it does not become the cause for the meditation that accomplishes activities. If one is dull or submerged, it becomes the unindicated state of the alaya consciousness. If one generates the clarity of awareness or vipashyana on this, then one sees the non-conceptual nature of reality of each self-aware wisdom, therefore one must strive to accumulate merit, so in all the tantras of Dzogchen, the preliminary practices are also emphasized. Regarding the third question, occasionally noticing distraction is a natural response, which shows that the method of practice is not wrong. However, if one observes the observer again, then that is wrong, because it is using the analytical meditation of conceptual thought to cause artificial damage to the natural state of memory. As the holy one said, "The mind does not fabricate, but abides naturally. If it fabricates, it is like abandoning a horse and riding a donkey." (751) etc., the intention of all the great accomplished ones is the same as this. Some people regard this as superior, but it is only approaching the first dhyana and then forcibly stopping. Regarding the fourth question, if after a scattering that leaves nothing behind, one generates the conviction that "this is the state of original purity," that is a great obscuration of hearing and thinking. Because thinking "there is nothing" is falling into emptiness clinging, and gaining conviction is falling into permanence clinging, both of these cognitive obscurations are difficult to abandon. The Vinaya Pitaka also says that if someone thinks "I am an arhat," that is definitely an enemy.

As exemplified by what was said without having conquered, for the self-existing original meditation, do not modify or defile its continuity with artificial meditation, do not be distracted, and when meditating, do not (752) cling to a target, this is the mindfulness of Dharma-nature, therefore, protect its continuity. Furthermore, when not distracted, the stream of mindfulness does not lose its bright radiance; when distracted, as soon as one becomes aware, the distractor disappears, this is the beginning of mindfulness arising as wisdom, therefore, protect its continuity in a spontaneously accomplished manner, if you can protect the vigor of diligence, then the place of distraction will also merge into Dharma-nature, thereby causing all meditation and post-meditation to arise as meditation, all doubts and bonds of right and wrong will be naturally liberated in the present moment, thereby giving rise to the sky yoga in which the different practices of the Great Middle Way, the Great Seal, or the Great Perfection merge into the same Dharma-nature. As the Mother Sutra says: "Subhuti, the Perfection of Wisdom is without mindfulness and without mental activity, therefore it is like the sky." Thus. The meaning of the fifth question (753) is: the meaning of not establishing mindfulness on top of equipoise is that many reciters who have never experienced meditation and foolish meditators understand the boundless as something that needs to be established, which becomes the object of equipoise. Protecting its continuity with mindfulness causes the practice to be divided into two parts, like a shepherd and the one being herded, or like Devas sitting on reeds. This is close to the meaning of explaining the view of the perishable collection. In short, having a protector and a protected, having a rememberer and a remembered, having a meditator and a meditated, all of this is inseparable from the clinging of augmentation, and does not go beyond the view and practice of conceptual mind. As the Bodhicaryavatara says: "The ultimate is not the realm of mind, mind is only the conventional truth." From this it is known. Therefore (754), the Great Perfection is the path of the noble ones, and for those who directly see the wisdom of the first ground, it will not appear as the realm of ordinary people. Now, when entering the path of truth, the place of distraction arises as Dharma-nature, and before the experience of realization that transcends words and expressions arises, for beginners, mindful activity is needed; for those with sudden realization and those with the potential of previous habituation, the rememberer and the remembered are not different entities, but rather a mindfulness that transcends mind, and what needs to be known and remembered.
