If forgotten, diligence in the Dharma will wane. Abandon the busyness of young monks tidying their robes. Practice virtue alone, training the mind. If one thinks this is a unique system others lack, arrogance arises, confusing Dharma and mind, along with the pomp of ritual chanting (699). Because it is difficult to traverse the paths and grounds, maintain the true nature. However, that true nature is also a rigid view of emptiness, misunderstood due to confusion with nominal terms. Draw near the essence of complete realization with devotion to the Guru, like a hook. If that becomes the path, compassion and devotion will naturally arise, and through renunciation, the qualities of the path will appear in the mind. Thus, from Gyangtse Tseten Monastery, at the request of one named Gendun, full of faith, from the Lotus Light Isle, this was written by the Longchen illusory yogi. Homage to the Buddha! Even prophecies endowed with power and youth are rare to fully possess the qualities of the eight freedoms and ten endowments. Therefore, entering the Victorious One's (700) teachings is greater merit than adorning the three realms with tiger skins. For those of an age like new sprouts, if you do not diligently study writing, reading, recitation, and memorization, and strive in the ten Dharma practices, it will be too late to regret when youth has passed. Let the discipline of restraining misdeeds be a deterrent, and if the activities of hearing, contemplation, and meditation decline, and if one is overly fond of the root of darkness—alcohol—then all good qualities will diminish, so abandon it. Sleep and distraction are friends of laziness and sin. Little learning, arrogance, seeing gods and demons, and engaging in partisan bias, self-praise, and disparaging others are all terrifying blows to the biographies of the holy. In short, from the difficulty of obtaining leisure and endowment to relying on a virtuous friend, correct the Dharma and your own mindstream, and then focus solely on the profound meaning of the generation and completion stages (701). To fulfill that vow, each month, for one week, practice silence, austerity, and patience. If you gradually become accustomed, you will become endowed with asceticism. Always rely on renunciation in your mindstream, generate altruistic bodhicitta, and as its companion, practice the six perfections, never forgetting the essence of mindfulness. Sa

If the mind recognizes but is not cultivated with mindfulness, the seeds of samsara, endless thoughts, will continue, and the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance will not cease. It is a pity that the leisure and human body are wasted in vain. Although called a lama, if there is no pure mind, the power of wealth will only harm oneself. Is one's own mind always endowed with qualities? One should strive to examine and choose what to accept and reject. (702) The essence of so much said is also that one should not be overcome by laziness in hearing and thinking. The essence of the Mahayana path is compassion, and you should protect yourself with mindfulness and awareness. This instruction in the manner of inner practice to Palding Tulku Rinpoche was composed by Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa. In the vast universe, all sentient beings, moving and unmoving, etc., are auspicious words, saying that the moving are lice and the unmoving are nits. What reason is there for the words of ordinary people? If so, then the intermediate state, which is almost separated from the four names and forms, or the aggregation of the four names and forms separated from form, the realm of Yama, the formless gods, and even the evil realms, are all included in the six realms (703), so how can the name of unmoving be established? The words of the Victorious One and the treatises, the basis of valid cognition, have not been found before. If analyzed with reason, the law is like arable and unarable land. Thus, the moving are those with life and breath, aggregates of similar types, said to be the basis of heat and consciousness in the desired place of the two. The formless are all those whose basis is only consciousness. The unmoving are those who are free from the movement of life and breath, and can be said of either samsara or nirvana. It is good! As it is said in the sutra: Just as a tree of senses is planted in the ground, the winds of the four directions cannot move it. Likewise, the noble Sangha of those who have attained the supreme path is the same. This measures the meaning of certainty. (704) For the time being, in the meaning of guidance, when the inner and outer elements are disturbed, and when dependent origination is reversed, sentient beings experience discomfort. Therefore, it is said that the world is peaceful and prosperous. Thus, it is said that the nature of both the basis and the dependent are happily gone. This is also Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.
