The cause of habituation. Entering the monastery from a young age becomes an obstacle to renunciation and pure appearance. The appearance of virtuous spiritual friends (690) and relatives becomes a cause for contempt and ridicule, so that not a single quality arises. This happens often, so in the tantras, there is the idea of prohibiting father-son teachers and disciples and relatives as teachers and disciples. Even if lineage and lifespan are the same, the mind-streams are different. Know the difference like Devadatta and the Blessed One, and listen to the teachings of Lama Trinley Özer. Recite the biographies of the Blessed One and Ananda. Thinking about the joy of obtaining a human body, devote yourself solely to the sacred Dharma. Thinking about the rarity of practicing according to the Dharma, utterly defeat the eight worldly concerns. Thinking about the difficulty of meeting the Lama, strive to obtain the pith instructions. Obtaining leisure is plentiful, but having all the endowments is rare. The Dharma of prophecy that is not leisure and endowment is only an image (691). Meeting the Lama Rinpoche is a sign that past good wishes have been fulfilled. In the midst of a crowd of enemies gathered together, there is a danger of mistaking attachment and aversion for Dharma. Therefore, thinking about the biographies of the predecessors, make the human body meaningful. This was said by Dzogchenpa Jigme Lingpa at the request of Lhodrak Dudjom Ling Emchi Chen. Advice to Jigme Trinley Özer. The so-called "no arising, no ceasing," in Buddhism, this seems to be a supreme statement of Dharma-nature establishing reality, but most people only understand its meaning in terms of words, and few have experienced it in their own way in practice. Among them, no arising is not merely a negation established by intellectual ability, but emptiness (692) where the place of establishment itself is not established from its own nature, which is beyond words, beyond thought, and beyond expression. No ceasing refers to not understanding the radiance of the self-illuminating Dharma-nature, and therefore it is the pervader that goes throughout samsara and nirvana. It is not mixed with the dualistic opposition of discriminating consciousness and fabricated thoughts such as union, in the manner of non-affirming negation. Nowadays, those who abandon and meditate establish emptiness with clarity, and expand clarity with emptiness, thus combining both arising and ceasing. And those who read and contemplate do not even have a single experience of shamatha-vipashyana, only at the level of understanding.
