Whatever thoughts arise, Do not follow, do not abandon. (666) Neither negating nor affirming, In the arising place, in the unborn, beyond mind, In its own nature, remaining unmoved, Like water and waves, becoming one taste. This is called arising as liberation, without distinction. If you become accustomed to this, then appearances and mind, Like salt dissolving in water, Many become one taste, The root of karma and habits is exhausted, The face of the Dharmakaya, free from grasping, Will be seen in this very moment, This is the special characteristic of Dzogchen. Having understood this meaning, in one lifetime, May you attain the fruit of liberation. Thus, Drikung Yangrigarpa Konchok Chokyi Tar, in the realm of samsara, Dzogchenpa Rangjung Dorje Khyentse La, in Padma Odling, taught as heart advice. I prostrate to the feet of the Second Victor! You two disciples who came from the south (667), As you depart, nail this instruction to your hearts. Although many may again obtain a leisure and fortune, Those who possess the special qualities of wealth, Are rare even among practitioners. Therefore, examine and strive in the Dharma, And give encouragement as an aside. Hoping for the teachings of the degenerate age, In sects, power, and glory, Is a cause for sadness. Therefore, our joy in solitude, Is also because of the good wishes of previous lives. Be sure to blend your mind with the Dharma. As if striving only for this life, The study and contemplation of the eight worldly dharmas, Giving and keeping vows, etc., Will not become the cause of liberation, Therefore, you should also know the key points of the Dharma. If it is not connected with the mind of renunciation, The appearance of a monk (668) may seem beautiful and neat, And even occupying the mountains in solitude, Will only increase the cause of pride. Therefore, at all times, Taking the qualities of the predecessors as an example, Whether your mind is blended with the Dharma or not, You should examine and analyze this. Whatever you do, if you do not grasp it with a mind connected to benefiting others, Then even if you are diligent, you will go astray into the lesser vehicle. Therefore, know that the meaning of the Dharma lies in the two Bodhicittas. Even if you practice the Dharma in solitude, If you become weak, you will be reviled, If you accomplish benefiting others, you will be suppressed, These kinds of phenomena are many these days. Therefore, take the courage to endure wrong actions as armor.
