Because there is no action and no memory (660), all phenomena are not established by their own characteristics and common characteristics. The view of the great Madhyamaka, which is beyond expression, is related to reasoning and logic. The practice of Atiyoga is cultivated by being free from mental fabrication. As the noble Nagarjuna said: The mind is of all Buddhas, unseen, unseeing, unchangeable in seeing. In the nature of no self-nature, how can one see? And as Atisha said: The Bhagavan's wisdom does not see anything. Why? Because there is no object of wisdom. And so on, this is the doctrine of simultaneous entry. This was also taught by Rangjung Dorje (the Third Karmapa, 1284-1339), who held the doctrine of the Great Perfection of Self-Nature in the snowy mountains, at the end of five hundred questions and answers prompted and asked by four monks of Dokhampa who practiced chod, with the light of Khyentse. The infallible protector, Orgyen Rinpoche, the Gyalwa Longchenpa (1308-1364) without repayable kindness, are always inseparable in my heart, and today reside as the crown ornament on my head. The yogi of Sul in Yoru, U-Tsang, and Adrakpa born in the northern borderlands, meeting with someone never heard of before, must be a karmic connection from a previous life. My supreme Dharma, the Great Perfection, which distinguishes experience and realization on the basis of meaning, is taught to you without reservation. Have you understood it in direct vision? You have obtained a precious human body, met the supreme Dharma, and heard the oral instructions. It is a pity if you are indulgent at this time (662). In the midst of many people, attachment and aversion increase, worldly appearances are good at deceiving, and good thoughts are diminished by circumstances. Make up your mind and go to a secluded place. Just by arriving at any place, the difficulty of finding leisure and endowment and its easy destruction, and the acceptance and rejection of karmic results, naturally occur. Knowing the faults and virtues of samsara and nirvana is the virtue of living alone. Not to mention the suffering of the lower realms, just seeing the hardships of worldly people, how can one have the freedom not to practice Dharma? Cherish not confusing the pursuit of one's own peace and happiness. Trusting the Three Jewels from the bottom of your heart is the key to conventional refuge. The place of refuge is one's own mind.

Once realized, one sees the truth of the Dharma nature. (663) The root of all Dharmas is Bodhicitta. Without compassion, one falls into the paths of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Being able to give up body and life for the sake of others, until then, please do not separate from Bodhicitta. The view of emptiness without compassion, and the recitation of generation and completion stages, cannot accomplish the path to liberation. Even the accomplishment of a guru without devotion has little benefit for generating realization. Subdue the guru with devotion. When the guru's mind and your mind are completely merged, the guru's realization will be transferred to the disciple. Self-arisen wisdom transcends thought. If the clinging to the reality of appearances is not reversed, one cannot distinguish between samsara and nirvana. If one clings to the experience of emptiness, then visualizing clear deities becomes very important. If awareness does not rest in its natural state, then understanding the meaning of words is just elaboration. Conceptualization is discursive thought. (664) As long as there is an object to be seen and a seer, I have not seen the realization of reality. For a meditator who practices the generation stage, there must be a karmic connection to the completion stage. Therefore, listen to this key point: The directly grasped awareness has no essence, characteristics, or name. It is liberated from the extremes of existence and non-existence. It is neither "is" nor "is not." Clear and without object, transparent and clear; bright and without grasping, naked and open. Do not mistake the state of no self-nature. This is the view, please understand. The Dharma nature realized in this way, and this unadulterated and uncorrupted mindfulness, are naturally clear without sinking or agitation, and are merely labeled as "meditation." For the sudden approach, since there is no continuum of mind created by wind and mind, it is sufficient for awareness to appear directly. For the gradual approach, the key is to meditate on the union of Shamatha and Vipassana (665). When consciousness is focused on one point and rests on the ground, self-knowing is Vipassana. If one engages in analytical observation, that is its fault. The state of non-thought where the six senses cease to function, and the state where even if there is thought, the appearance of objects ceases, is a mistaken Shamatha, belonging to the realm of the four Dhyanas. Even if one merely recognizes clarity and emptiness, but if one does not realize the nature of awareness, the great state beyond thought, free from elaboration, one will be mistaken for the samadhi of the form realm. Therefore, when the senses are not stopped, if consciousness does not mix with objects, there will be no thought arising from the senses. I am beyond mind, awareness, the great state beyond thought, the footprints of all Sugatas of the past, present, and future. Please fix this in your heart.
