Without exaggeration. The appearance of desirable qualities is like an illusion, Measure the attachment of clinging to truth in subtle hopes and fears. 2 The results of black and white karma are extremely powerful, All that will be experienced falls upon one's own shoulders. Therefore, abandon evil and practice virtue, for what to take and what to discard, Examine with mindfulness and awareness, then take the essence. 3 To the gathering of all refuges, the Great Orgyen and, The protector of Tibet, Great Compassionate Avalokiteśvara, Pray with body, speech, and mind, with sincerity, Recite the heart mantra Vajra Guru Six Syllables. 4 Appearance, sound, and awareness, deity, mantra, and dharmata, Abandon the clinging to reality of seeing them as ordinary and self-willed. For the generation stage, recitation, and tenth-day feast, Hold the mark of unwavering vows firmly. 5 In the unmade, spontaneously accomplished, self-body mandala, Because the wisdom display, peaceful and wrathful deities are inseparable, Offer with joy the feast of food and drink to the assembly wheel, Thereby stopping the fault of wrong livelihood (544) food. 6 Good and bad, happiness and suffering, good and evil, death, etc., All are the magical display of the one nature of mind, In the great expanse of original purity, free from effort, Transform into the state of one taste and rest in the original state. 7 The essence of the ocean of tantras, the three yogas, The path of its generation stage is complete in this. Abandon laziness and procrastination, strive like striking stone against bone, Obtain the aspiration to merge into the light of Padmasambhava. 8 Now, do not stay, go to a secluded place to meditate, In the cave free from the bonds of attachment and aversion, The bindu of appearance and mind inseparable, It is said there is exhaustion of mind, exhaustion of dharma, and accomplishment. 9 This is the practitioner in the midst of the snowy mountains, The yogi whose stream of consciousness is as pure as the sky, The unconcerned, free-spirited one who acts as he pleases, Again advises with a cluster of pure white appearances. 10 This is also advised to support the new practitioners as a backing for essential practice. Homage to the lamas! This life, though long, is only like today, The appearance of the next life will come soon, like tomorrow. The delusion of the bardo is like last night's dream, From now on, devote yourself to the sacred Dharma. Tomorrow and tomorrow, wasting life, When entering the Dharma, obstacles will disguise themselves as anything. Except for a determined, learned lama, No one will appear, immediately restrain the mind. All good and bad, superior and inferior, high and low, cannot escape death, There is nothing more important than the Dharma. Death is forced,

Even if you regret it when you are old, it will be too late. From today onwards, seek a secluded hermitage. Now, the end of the degenerate times has arrived. All unwanted suffering (546) has befallen us. Since there is no happiness for all sentient beings, accumulate the sacred Dharma, the source of eternal bliss. Even if this life is long, it will be exhausted within a hundred years. Death is not enough; the suffering of the lower realms is terrifying. The karmic consequences accumulated over eons will follow. Therefore, have the essential instructions of the Dharma that will benefit you. Even if you lose seven steps in a desolate hermitage, the benefits are immeasurable, as the Victorious One himself has said. If you strive in practice, achieving enlightenment in one lifetime and one body is the special characteristic of Secret Mantra. You must make diligence the essence. I will give you the nectar of the nine profound instructions. If there is an auspicious connection between life and practice, then Padmasambhava will show you the way to the next life. The Second Buddha, the Great Teacher (547) Padmasambhava, is the deity of the Tibetan people of the snowy lands. If you can supplicate, there is an infallible promise. Open your mind, heart, and soul, and pray. Although I am ignorant, I am a son of a good lineage. I see the appearances of the world as dreams and illusions. Going to secluded hermitages is Dharma. Follow me and make this precious human life meaningful. This is the instruction given to Wangdu, an old man with faith in the Dharma, carrying a tattered bag, by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo at Ogyen Dorje Drak. Emaho! The incomparable kindness of the Prince Padmasambhava and the chief of the Wisdom Dakinis, Kharchenza, as well as Vimalamitra and the translator Vairotsana, is beyond comprehension. Your ears (548)! In the center of the lotus, the thousand petals of the red bodhicitta are fully opened, pouring the drops of the nectar of the three words. Keep your awareness clear and listen! This is the only time you have the opportunity to obtain a precious human life with leisure and opportunity. Like a star in the day and the sun at night, even if you find something impossible, it is as unstable as a bubble and lightning in the sky. If you forget that you will certainly die and do not remember impermanence, there will be no Dharma reminder. Therefore, whether it is morning or evening, always look at the corpse and cherish the remembrance of death at all times. Even if you have abundant wealth and enjoyment, you cannot take it with you at the time of death, let alone possess it. Your own heart.
