During these times, rain-like showers of flowers fell around where Your Holiness resided, and the ground also trembled slightly on several occasions, which seemed to be solely signs of swiftly departing to another pure land (460). Headed by the accomplished Wangindra, including us disciples residing in both homeland and abroad, as well as the entire patrons of Palri Monastery, Püshupa, and other faithful individuals, all offered Ganachakra and extensively performed long-life prayers. From distant places such as Tsona Monastery Top, Dokhar Nyerchen, Tsang Tekchok Lingpa, etc., offerings of body, speech, and mind supports were also made, and requests for the stability of the lotus feet were made through letters, along with inquiries about the illness. Upon hearing of the illness, the Sakya ruler of Derge also offered two hundred and fifty silver coins as offerings in the major monasteries of his dominion, and extensively performed long-life rituals with four hundred million recitations of the secret lord Vajrapani (Tibetan: ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रपाणि, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajrapāṇi, Chinese literal meaning: Vajra-hand) and one hundred thousand Tsa-tsas, etc., and dispatched the physician Chukyepa as an attendant, offering various medicines, and said that if other famous doctors were needed, so-and-so could be invited. His Holiness replied, "There is no illness that requires calling a doctor. However, if you are not at ease, you can have a doctor who is close to us take a look. Calling from afar will only increase trouble and will not help." Nevertheless, several nearby famous doctors came to examine the pulse and urine, and offered various medicines, which His Holiness accepted as they were offered. This seemed to be to bear the suffering in advance for us who will face suffering in the future, and to give comfort with compassion in such a panicked moment, the kindness of which is indescribable. Once, in a casual conversation, His Holiness said, "When a lama passes away, the body should be preserved intact (461), and the method of preserving the corpse is like this. Also, the lamas of today only pursue fame, and are ashamed of wasting the wealth of faith, while our own wealth has always been dedicated to the Three Jewels. In the future, if these properties fall into your hands, I am afraid you will have to do some ordinary things. Therefore, you can offer some offerings and symbols to the lamas who are close to us, such as Lama Yachen, like this for this, etc." In this way, His Holiness gave instructions by way of examples, and then manifested the departure to another pure land.

During that time, teachings related to entrusting one's mind were transmitted in succession. While some teachings were still being imparted, (the master) knew that we were all deeply immersed in sorrow, so he transferred the remaining teachings to others. It is said that the remaining parts were given to a close attendant, to be discussed later. At times, when the entreaty of "Please let the lotus feet remain firm" and the unbearable wails of lamentation erupted intensely, (the master) extended the time for ignorant minds to grasp the words literally with gentle words of comfort like, "There won't be any problems for now." To the chief of benefactors, named Chöme Sarawa, some teachings similar to the previous ones were also imparted. The all-knowing one gestured with his hands, indicating that he must remain without passing away. If we were without merit and other pure realms stole his mind, and he had to leave, he would definitely promise to be reborn as a supreme reincarnation (462). And by requesting to undertake the tireless task of building a wish-fulfilling stupa, he played the lute of the throat with pleasant yet fearful sounds, such as the need to stay here. We have no intention of taking rebirth, but by the power of Dharma, there is a high probability of an emanation appearing. However, there is no need for debates, etc. And he gave countless instructions on immediately and perpetually holding us with compassion. Subsequently, regarding whether it is better to stay in this stupa or in Samye Monastery, he proceeded by consulting Mahakala through divination. Since we are ignorant like animals, without even a fraction of analytical ability regarding the two truths, although I myself do not know even a single word of important learning and practice, your compassion, Master, is immeasurable, so I, who am merely called a "steward," with some doubts, recorded the history after the passing of Master Gampopa (1079-1153), as well as instructions on immediate and perpetual teachings, objects of learning and practice, initiation implements, and scriptures, without omitting anything, and handed them over to Drakgompa. Later, Drakgompa Monastery was also presided over by the Drigung reincarnate lama. In short, you cannot prevent the subtle differences of conceptual thoughts. My appearance is abiding in the state of the three doors of liberation, without separation. So he said. (The master) sat in the lotus position day and night, and sometimes squatted like an ascetic. Gazing with his eyes.
