Thereafter, the longevity empowerment of White Tara was bestowed in Sara. On that day, the fragrance like that of fine incense permeated all directions, manifesting signs of the Dharmakaya. Not even a slight breeze stirred, and from the clear sky, a shower of flowers fell like drizzle, accompanied by boundless wondrous sights. On the third night of the first lunar month of the Earth Horse year, while seated in the posture of a sage, he said, "Prepare the offerings," and then gathered the manifestation into the primordial realm. Alas, alas! One eye of the world has closed. The spiritual friend who shows what to accept and reject has been abandoned. Even the bodhicitta accustomed to countless existences, can it truly enter the realm of peace? The Vajra body, which has inherently abandoned birth and death, although it has already attained perfect enlightenment, can the all-pervading, inexhaustible power of great compassion be endured in the heart when it is withdrawn? Can it be endured in the heart when it is withdrawn? Alas, as long as the lineage of beings in samsara is not empty, then the manifestation of the Rupakaya should also appear constantly, possessing the seven unions. It is certainly not false; it is a fault of self-appearance. The thick habitual patterns of negative karma accumulated from beginningless time (465), even the immutable Vajra body is seen as changing and decaying. Look at this deceptive Dharma of false appearance! From the lotus feet of the Protector, even though the supreme taste of the nectar of pure instructions has been enjoyed, those who enter lazily, those who are constantly attached, the great demon has settled in their hearts, and now it is understood. The great transformation, the rainbow body Vajra body, also departed to the great Akanishta with the appearance of decay. Those embodied beings who have become the support of worldly activities, please be sure to liberate all beings. Therefore, abandoning the thought of weariness in body, speech, and mind, to those to whom we should make offerings and prayers, and to the activities of acting according to the teachings, day and night, continuously and intensely, we vow to strive. Furthermore, in the second chapter of the Sutra of Golden Light, thereafter, the Bodhisattva Beautiful Crest, having heard the measure of the lifespan of the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha, spoke thus to the Buddhas, the Blessed Ones: "Blessed One,

When the departed Shakyamuni Tathagata thus demonstrated the limit of life, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, spoke thus to the Bodhisattva Ornamented Crest: "The Bhagavat Shakyamuni Tathagata was born in the world of the five degenerations, when the lifespan of beings could reach one hundred years, in order to benefit those beings with inferior intentions, those beings with small roots of virtue and faith, who cling to the view of self, the view of beings, the view of life, the view of nurture, the view of person, the wrong view, the clinging to self (Ātman, བདག་) and what belongs to self (Ātmīya, བདག་གིར), and the various ignorant ordinary people who cling to permanence and annihilation, and also in order to generate the correct view in other non-Buddhists, so that they may quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment, therefore the Tathagata Shakyamuni demonstrated a short lifespan. Furthermore, son of good family, the Tathagata's demonstration of passing into nirvana causes beings to generate thoughts of rarity and difficulty of encounter, and thoughts of sorrow and suffering, etc., so that they quickly uphold, recite, read, and understand these sutras spoken by the Buddha Bhagavat, and also widely and truthfully proclaim them to others without denigration, therefore the Tathagata demonstrated a short lifespan. If the Tathagata were to always abide and not pass into nirvana, then beings would not be respectful, nor would they generate thoughts of difficulty of encounter, therefore they would not uphold and read the profound sutras spoken by the Tathagata, nor would they understand them, nor would they widely and truthfully proclaim them to others. Why is that? Because they would think that the Bhagavat always abides in the world. Son of good family, for example, if someone sees that their parents have many abundant jewels, they do not generate thoughts of rarity and wonder towards those jewels. Why is that? Because they have the thought that their parents' wealth is always present. Similarly, if the Bhagavat were to always not pass into nirvana (467), then there would be no generation of rarity and difficulty of encounter towards the Bhagavat.
