and cannot be destroyed. In order to purify the two obscurations of all sentient beings, high and low, and to quickly perfect the two accumulations, the ways in which the ultimate meaning is accomplished are recorded with a sincere mind, not for the sake of fame or gain, but as a continuation of the biography of Je Tsongkhapa. Je Tsongkhapa, considering us sentient beings who cling to permanence, showed signs of declining eyesight and other signs of aging. Even at the time of accomplishing great deeds, he would say that it would be difficult to accomplish such things in the future, and that he would soon pass away to another realm. The empowerments and teachings that he had previously given widely, he later gave to those who requested them. In particular, he offered the gathered mandala, the Sutra empowerment, and other teachings, as well as Je Tsongkhapa's own mind treasures and collected works, to the Drikung Rinpoche father and son as a complete transmission of teachings, as if he were considering that he would not be able to meet them again. Although the prophecy of the stainless Buddha Padmasambhava indicated that his life would be longer than this, for the perception of sentient beings with little merit, just as in the story of the Buddha asking Ananda how long he would live, and Ananda's ears being disturbed by Mara, he did not obtain the circumstances for a life span that matched the prophecy. Moreover, regarding some hidden prophecies, he said that the numbers for the month, day, and time (458) were not exactly as they seemed, and that it was difficult to be certain. This was heard from Je Tsongkhapa's own mouth, meaning that he did not intend to actually abide by the interpretations of the prophecies that appeared in the minds of ordinary people. Previously, in Samye Chimphu, the prophecy of the great Orgyen Padmasambhava, "Ro time time fire," meant that "Ro time" was the year and "time fire" was the number of the month, which added up to sixty-nine. Although this matched, it seemed that he postponed his passing because the deeds of this life were not yet complete. Last year, when he traveled to Drikung, he had just turned seventy, and he showed signs of not adapting to the water and soil of that area, as well as the karmic obscurations of sentient beings, and that his body, which showed the ripening of karma, was very uncomfortable.

Due to illness, there was a period of about seven days when there was a near transference to other pure lands. At this time, Geshe Chonyipa (Dge rtse chos nyid pa) was here, and it coincided with his coming to pay respects and offer end-of-life offerings. The unique medicine he offered temporarily made your body seem refreshed. This is similar to the past when Shakyamuni Buddha accepted the offering of the householder Chunda, thereby extending his life by three months. Moreover, that medicine was found effortlessly from his Yamatung (gYa' ma lung), so, in order to understand that this is a compassionate emanation of Your Holiness, you said, "This time, the arrival of Gamo (dGa' mo) is the compassion of the great Orgyen (O rgyan)." After that, you were quickly able to peacefully visit this monastery, so the beings of this area were fortunate to share a small portion of the remaining merit. For a while, you stood and resided like a young man without illness, and your body seemed as light as before. Even so, you did not eat much (459), so it was worrying. Therefore, everyone unanimously requested that you take medicine that could eliminate the illness, and perform bodily rituals, etc. Whether they were lay or monastic devotees, they strongly pleaded, (you said), "Originally, birth ultimately leads to death, that is the law. Everything I have done is already complete, so even if I die, I am at peace. In comparison, those who go empty-handed at the time of death are pitiful. However, if you are not at ease, you can undergo treatment. Through these rituals, etc.," you only said these words to comfort us who were oppressed by suffering. Like performing tsok offerings and dakini fire pujas in great holy places such as Chimpu (mChims phu). Performing long-life practices. Making offerings in Dharma centers such as Samye Monastery (bsam yas). Giving alms to the monastic community. Reciting the Four Mandala Offering ritual and the Tara long-life dharani. Reciting the Kangyur. Performing the fulfillment ritual for Mahakala (ma mgon). Performing the wrathful fulfillment ritual for Mamo (ma mo). Accumulating the number of tsatsas (sa tstsha) and statues. Releasing sixty sheep and over a thousand fish. In particular, after performing the Hundred Offerings and Reversal Rituals for many days, the effigy and wealth were sent away, and then the long-life stability ritual was offered. In short, all these extensive offering rituals are clearly recorded in Your Holiness's oral biography. In addition, there are many others, such as making judgments with one's own wisdom, etc.
