Homage to all Buddhas! Here, in order to perform the Homa activities that are primarily based on the intention of the Dzogchen Rangjung Gyudé, the complete and self-arisen tantra of instructions, the act of burning the Homa substances and pouring in the offerings is called burning and offering, or offering the objects to be burned into the mouth of the deity, which is respectfully referred to as offering. Through the practice of offering and burning, the ritual of purifying the corpse of the deceased is performed, and the method of liberating from the two obscurations is composed in three parts: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. The first part has three aspects: constructing the hearth, placing the corpse, and preparing the offerings. Constructing the hearth: Generally, there are many old cremation chambers, so it is not described here. If there is a special need, the method of constructing the hearth should be learned elsewhere, distinguishing between superior and inferior. On a fire mat made of cloth or paper, draw four large dots, and from the center, draw three concentric circles, each one finger high, with the outer circles decreasing by half each time. (265) The base of the inner circle is made blue, and four lotus petals are drawn, starting from the east, with the center included. Clockwise, draw a vajra, a jewel, a lotus, and a swastika. In the center of the middle circle, draw a Dharma wheel. The base of the middle circle is red, and eight double-layered bindus are drawn to represent the locations of the eight male and female deities. The base of the outer circle is white, and the symbols of the wrathful deities are drawn. On top of that, draw a circle of the five outer wisdoms, surrounded by threads of five colors, with crescent-shaped vajras marking the four corners. Lay it in the cremation ground. Draw an eight-spoked wheel with a rim on cloth, draw water from a vase, and cover it over the fire mat. Second, placing the corpse: According to the special vase practice described in "Nelong," and other mantras such as the Hundred Syllable Mantra that do not cause confusion, the corpse is thoroughly (266) washed with vase water that has been bathed and blessed, wiped with a cloth, and camphor and other fragrant substances and medicinal herbs are applied to cover the entire body. For the areas around the mouth and other sense organs, write the following on Chinese paper with gold or fragrant ink: Sarva Durgaté Sarva Papam Bhishodhani Hum Phet for the deceased so-and-so, write it three times without any mistakes, omissions, or additions.

E! Apply honey to the three places of the head, neck, and heart, and make the vajra fist. If desired, in the "Joyful Gathering," on all the outer skin of the corpse, arrange all the imprints of samsara, etc. Like this, in order to burn the six seed syllables of the six realms in the six places, and the imprints of the twelve links of dependent origination on the navel chakra, which is the basis of life, it is good to arrange symbols representing these, or any appropriate name syllables. Similarly, in the Purifying Tantra, it says: "After consecrating the corpse with mantras, wash it with the best water (267), anoint it with the fragrance of recitation, cover it with clothes and ornaments, fumigate it with smoke consecrated with mantras, offer flower garlands, etc." Therefore, for monks, use monastic robes, and for laypeople, cover it with white or red cloth. Tie a garland of flowers on the head, and with various musical instruments, place it in the cremation chamber and drive away evil spirits. Furthermore, ventilation holes should be placed on the left and right sides of the cremation chamber, and holes for offering cremation substances should be prepared in advance during construction at the location of the heart. Because worldly people are foolish in their wisdom, if the corpse is straightened out completely in the cremation oven, it will be difficult to burn. Therefore, place the forehead against the hole in the head and provide a foundation stone. Slightly bend the body so that the heart is directly facing the center of the flame. Similarly, stretch out both legs and wrap the toes with oily cloth (268). Especially for those with edema, place a pottery filled with black butter underneath, with camphor and white sandalwood added, so that the water also burns. This is a trick to facilitate cremation. Third, the cremation substances are arranged on the right, and the offerings on the left. The cremation substances are: Although the raw material of Yam wood, the five trees containing milk, is not available in Tibet, suitable birch, willow, etc., can be used. Use many twelve-finger-long branches without bark. Use good ghee, and a large amount of sesame and mustard seeds. Yogurt, unhulled rice, unhusked barley, wheat, barley, beans, etc., should each be pure and not mixed with other impurities. Kusha grass, fruits, etc., should be washed very cleanly. Silk cloths, two worldly tormas, two wooden forks, all thing
