Although it is explained that (the paths of seeing and cultivation) are inseparable, our own treatises say that even in the stage of the great path of cultivation, there are errors in names. Because one's own () experience has not been reached, it is put aside. Why is that? Because spontaneous (naturally arisen) mindfulness, reciting day and night without ceasing, being liberated from all defilements, is only possible at the time of becoming a Buddha, and not at other times. In the Perfection Vehicle, the impure are sentient beings, the pure are Bodhisattvas, and the very pure are Tathagatas. Thus, from a temporary perspective, distinctions are made, and different names are established according to the order of above and below. Based on the fact that the realm of beings has the Tathagatagarbha, the example of the defilements that should be abandoned is also given by Lord Maitreya in the Uttaratantra: ordinary beings bound by all bonds, like the example of the Buddha enveloped in the bud of a lotus, a bee, a reed, and mud; the ignorance that exists in the continuum of Hearers and Solitary Realizers obscures the Tathagatagarbha, which is represented by the example of the treasure of a poor person below; the coarse defilements abandoned by the path of seeing in the Great Vehicle, which exist in the continuum of ordinary beings who are still learning, and the two defilements abandoned by cultivation in the continuum of () noble ones, are represented by the examples of outer skin and tattered cloth, respectively. Especially here, the term 'path of seeing' refers to the subtle, co-emergent, and invisible difference of 'I'. Because of this, among the defilements of the ten grounds, the impure defilements of the seven grounds below, and the defilements based on the pure three grounds, are represented by the secret metaphors of womb and mud. As it is said: The defilements based on the seven grounds are like the defilements of the womb. Like being free from the womb, like the maturation of non-conceptual wisdom. The defilements associated with the three grounds should be known as like earth, mud, and clothes. They are to be destroyed by the great sovereign's vajra-like samadhi. Thus. Therefore, the establishment of the term 'path of seeing' here is also the same as the statement in the Perfection Vehicle that one obtains freedom from the dust of the eye of Dharma by practicing the seven limbs of enlightenment. At that time, because one first obtains transcendental () wisdom, one obtains a joy greater than before, therefore the first ground is called 'Joyful Ground'. And, as a sign of this path, one also feels joy in the subsequent attainment.

The appearance of immeasurable phenomena arises. Since the near cause of omniscience, such as the opening of the sword of wisdom, will definitely occur, the path of seeing is manifested, and this is considered the transformation of dwelling on the first ground. Now, if it is thought that there is no manifestation of the twelve hundred thousand qualities, from seeing the faces of a hundred Buddhas in an instant, to showing that each body is surrounded by hundreds and thousands of perfect retinues, as well as the powers of eyes, clairvoyance, no self-mastery over birth and death, and the ability to hold the birth of the king of Jambudvipa, then, from the Great Perfection tantras, it is explained by the example of a chick that is fully capable in the eggshell, and once it breaks out of the shell, it can fly freely without any hindrance; and that even after a bird breaks out of the eggshell, it must be nurtured in the nest for a long time. In the Paramitas, one must enter the path for countless kalpas and so on, and then manifest the fruit. In the Vajrayana, all the qualities of abandonment and realization are fully capable in the body eggshell of the great meditator, and once liberated from the body's eggshell, one can definitely seize the stable position of union like an illusion of the eye. Therefore, it is not necessary to see the manifestation of those qualities in person. For details on this, please refer to the instruction manuals such as the Seven Treasures. Third, since it is similar to the path of meditation in the Paramitas, it is named as such. The yoga of the path of meditation is divided into three types: large, medium, and small. First is the small yoga. As it says in that very text (The Great Chariot Commentary on Resting the Mind in the Great Perfection): "Grasping emptiness, abandoning objects, transcending the calculation of emptiness and non-emptiness, Both transcending phenomena, the realization of non-duality and one taste, This is called the small yoga of the path of meditation." That is to say, after the obscuration of knowledge of grasping emptiness, which previously established emptiness in the Madhyamaka view of being free from elaboration, has disappeared, () since all appearances of white, red, etc., are absorbed into the mind, the external object of grasping does not appear. Since all activities and thoughts of the mind are absorbed into the inexpressible awareness, the active notion of internal grasping also disappears, and all the interdependent relationships of samsara and nirvana appear as non-dual one taste, therefore Mahamudra named it small one taste. Second is the medium yoga. As it says in that very text (The Great Chariot Commentary on Resting the Mind in the Great Perfection): Mind and phenomena, experience exhausted, whatever appears is an object.
