比须弥山还高，仅仅一滴眼泪积聚起来也肯定有大海那么大。像梵天和帝释天那样长寿，并且拥有圆满的形貌和财富，死后也要感受堕入恶趣的痛苦，如果真是这样，那么在此身体中拥有的权势和无病等等少许安乐，只不过是几年、几个月、几天而已的欺骗，享尽天界的安乐果报后就会变得极其贫穷和困苦，或者不得不心不甘情不愿地感受恶趣难以忍受的痛苦，那么现在这种如同从美梦中醒来的幸福有什么意义呢？因此，一定要在此生中从轮回痛苦的海洋中解脱出来(874)，如此想后就在加行、正行、后行三个阶段中修持。第二，分别思维六道各自的痛苦，六道中，首先是地狱，有十八个分支，八个热地狱是：所有地基和环境都像铁匠烧红的铁一样，即使显现出只有能放脚的地方是安乐的，但火焰之中极其炽热，这是八个地狱共同之处。其中名为“复活”的地狱是：地狱众生聚集在炭火之中，以嗔恨心将彼此视为仇敌，仅仅互相用兵器击打，刚一死亡，就从空中传来“复活吧！”的声音，话音刚落，就复活过来，在业力未尽之前，如前一样感受痛苦，将所感受的业取名为复活。像在自己相续中现量生起一样地修持，在修习(875)之后的后得时，现在仅仅以对境来修习都如此痛苦，那么现量造业的时候如何忍受？如果说转生地狱的主要原因是嗔恨心，那么造就那个业的原因从以前到现在已经积累了很多，因此，我也必定会心不甘情不愿地感受那个业的果报，如何忍受呢？如此生起恐惧，对以前的业生起强烈的后悔心，并发誓忏悔，以后宁死也不造作，如此以对治力严厉地约束自相续，并思维现在正在现量感受那个痛苦果报的地狱众生，以及以后造作之因的行为

Higher than Mount Meru, even a single drop of tears, when accumulated, is definitely as vast as the ocean. Even those who are long-lived like Brahma and Indra, and possess perfect form and wealth, will experience the agonizing suffering of the lower realms after death. If that is the case, then the slight happiness of power and health in this body is just a deception lasting only a few years, months, or days. After exhausting the blissful results of the higher realms, one becomes extremely poor and miserable, or one has to unwillingly endure the unbearable suffering of the lower realms. So, what is the essence of this present happiness, which is like waking up from a fleeting dream? Therefore, in this lifetime, one must by all means escape from the ocean of suffering of samsara (874). Thinking thus, one should practice in the three stages of preparation, main practice, and conclusion. Secondly, to contemplate the specific sufferings of each of the six realms, among the six, first, the hells, with eighteen divisions, the eight hot hells are: The ground and environment are all like red-hot iron from a blacksmith's forge, even the appearance of a place to put one's foot is a comfort, but the flames are extremely hot, which is common to all eight hells. Among them, the hell called "Revival" is: The hell beings gather in the midst of burning embers, and with hatred, they see each other as enemies, only striking each other with weapons. As soon as they die, a voice comes from the sky saying, "Revive!" As soon as the sound is heard, they revive and experience suffering as before until their karma is exhausted. The karma to be experienced is named Revival. Meditating on this state as if it were manifestly arising in one's own mind, in the subsequent awareness after meditating (875), even now, just meditating with an object is so painful, how can one endure when actually engaging in karma? If the main cause of being born in hell is hatred, then the causes for that karma have been accumulated from the past until now. Therefore, I will inevitably experience the result of that karma unwillingly, how can I endure it? Thus, generating fear, and generating strong regret for past actions, and vowing to confess, and resolving never to commit such actions again, thus firmly restraining one's mind with remedies, and contemplating the hell beings who are now manifestly experiencing the result of that suffering, and the actions that cause future accumulation.

Meditating with intense compassion for all beings is the correct method for thinning the sins in one's own continuum, so this should be understood for all the lower hells as well. The Black Line Hell: (876) Yama's messengers stretch the bodies of sinners straight like firewood, drawing eight, sixteen, or even more lines from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet, and then saw them with sharp saws from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet. As soon as they are sawn, they heal, and are sawn again, the suffering is immeasurable. The Crushing Hell: Having gone to the land of burning iron, the mountains there appear to each other as the heads of animals such as horses, camels, cattle, etc., and as they fight each other, their bodies are crushed like eggshells. Sometimes, they are pounded and ground like sesame seeds with a burning iron hammer, but they quickly recover, and suffer as before. The Howling Hell: Being boiled in molten iron, crying out with intense howls. The Great Howling Hell: Being placed in a two-tiered burning iron chamber, (877) the door is sealed shut, suffering, and being struck with iron hammers. The Hot Hell: Being placed in a burning iron cauldron, when trying to climb out, the head is struck with a hammer, even losing consciousness is considered happiness, therefore suffering. The Very Hot Hell: The Very Hot Hell: In a burning iron chamber, the two shoulders and the crown of the head are pierced with a three-pronged spear, like drilling into a Tala tree. Wrapping the body with burning iron cloth, burning it with fire and flames, is extremely painful. The Uninterrupted Hell: In a burning iron chamber, surrounded by sixteen additional hells, the body is burned without interruption, the rain of suffering pours down intensely, only the sound of howling can be heard, and the body cannot be seen as an object. The thought of wanting liberation, and seeing the appearance of a door, are also blocked and cut off for a long time, (878) therefore, new and disgusting sufferings are seen, including the harm of the dwelling, as well as external harms such as bows and arrows, clubs, and pouring molten iron. In short, the sufferings of the previous seven hells also constantly appear, there is not even a slight opportunity to enjoy comfort, and the lifespan is as long as one intermediate kalpa, therefore it is called the Uninterrupted Hell.
