Regarding the method of summarizing practice into the order of guidance. The difficulty of finding leisure and fortune, the impermanence of life, the faults of samsara, the law of karma, the benefits of liberation, and reliance on a spiritual friend, etc., the first of the six also has four ways of thinking: thinking about the nature of leisure, thinking about the difference of fortune, thinking about the analogy of difficulty in finding, and thinking about the difference in number. The first is: If one is born in the eight states of no leisure, one has no power to practice Dharma, so it is not a state of leisure. If one is born in hell, one will suffer from the torment of heat and cold, and one will have no time to practice Dharma. Hungry ghosts suffer from the torment of hunger and thirst, and have no time to practice Dharma. Animals suffer from the torment of being exploited and harming each other, and have no time to practice Dharma. Long-lived gods spend a long time in a state of unconsciousness, and have no time to practice Dharma. If one is born in a remote area, there is no Buddha's teaching, and one has no time to practice Dharma. If one is born in an evil environment where one's thoughts are not in harmony with those of non-Buddhists, one's mind is defiled by wrong views, and one has no time to practice Dharma. If one is born in a dark age, one cannot hear the names of the Three Jewels, and one does not understand good and evil, and one has no time to practice Dharma. If one is born dumb, one can do nothing but consciousness, and one has no time to practice Dharma. In this way, not being born in these eight places is called having leisure, because there is an opportunity to practice Dharma, so the word "leisure" is added. Therefore, after taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta, one should now contemplate with joy that one has not been born in the eight states of no leisure as a basis. Afterwards, one should repeatedly think that the nature of these eight leisures is extremely difficult to find, and if one does not strive to practice Dharma now, one's human body will be meaningless. Dedicating the merit to all sentient beings also applies to the following content. By the way, one should also carefully observe the eight kinds of no leisure caused by external conditions and the self-continuum wasted by the distracted mind of broken precepts, and remove one's own shortcomings, which is of great significance, so it is said in the "Wish-Fulfilling Jewel": The five poisons are in turmoil, and ignorance is controlled by demons, the lazy and evil deeds are like a sea, being controlled by others, fear and protection, disguised as Dharma, these are the eight kinds of no leisure caused by external conditions. And, bondage, vows, possessing conduct.

Extremely bad. Not weary of samsara, without the slightest faith. Not doing good, committing evil deeds, without Dharma in mind. Breaking vows and samaya, this is called. Severed hope, mind without leisure, experiencing various states. Thus it is said. Among these, these two sets of eight unavailabilities are particularly likely to occur. If one does not adopt and abandon these, even if one obtains the mere appearance of leisure, one will fall into a state of not having leisure to practice Dharma. Therefore, one should recognize that life is merely a leisure of aging in ease. Secondly, from the five personal endowments and the five circumstantial endowments. First, the personal endowments are: If one does not obtain a human body, one will not encounter the Dharma. Now, one has obtained the endowment of a human body (866). Moreover, if one is born in a border region without Dharma, one will not encounter the Dharma. Now, one is born in a central region with Dharma, this is the endowment of place. If the senses are deficient, it will become an obstacle to the Dharma. Now, one is free from such faults, this is the endowment of the qualities of the senses. The reversal of karma, that is, always engaging in non-virtue, is contrary to the Dharma. Now, one is inclined to virtue, this is the endowment of the difference of thought. If one does not have faith in the object of faith—the teachings, the mind will not incline to the Dharma. Now, the mind is able to incline to the Dharma, this is the endowment of faith. These five are required to be complete in relation to oneself, so they are called the five personal endowments. Secondly, the circumstantial endowments are: If one is not born in the Fortunate Aeon when the Buddha appeared in the world, one will not even have the name of the Dharma. Now, one has encountered the Fortunate Aeon when the Buddha appeared, this is the endowment of a distinguished teacher. Even if he appeared, if he did not teach the Dharma, there would be no benefit (867). He taught the three turnings of the Dharma wheel, this is the endowment of the Dharma. Even if he taught the Dharma, if the teachings declined, there would be no benefit. Now, all the abodes of the teachings are complete, this is the endowment of time. Even if the teachings abide, if one does not enter into them, there is no benefit. One has entered into the ranks of the teachings, this is the endowment by one's own merit. Even if one has entered, if one does not encounter the favorable condition—a virtuous friend, one will not understand the true nature of the Dharma. Because one has encountered a virtuous friend, this is the endowment by the surpassing compassion. These five are required to be complete in relation to other conditions, so they are called the five circumstantial endowments. Thus, if all eighteen endowments are complete, it is the basis for practicing the sacred Dharma, so it is called a precious human body. If even one of them is lacking, one cannot truly walk the path of liberation, so human
