It is said that the Thus Gone One subdued his younger brother Nanda, who was particularly infatuated with his concubine Bundarika, by leading him to the city of the gods and the realms of hell, and he eventually attained Arhatship. Angulimala killed nine hundred and ninety-nine people. King Ajatashatru, who killed his father, also committed the act of immediate retribution (835), but he was purified by confession and vows, and the former (Angulimala) attained Arhatship. Dekye killed his own mother, but later, with a mind of remorse, he properly adopted and abandoned, and it is said that he experienced only a slight feeling of pain in hell, like striking a pillar with silk, and eventually attained the stream-entry fruit. Therefore, while remembering these sins, one should also generate strong remorse and strive to seek the means of confession, which is the most crucial point. One should learn to recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps. Furthermore, in the course of guidance, one should avoid being overtaken by the ten non-virtuous actions and their consequences, which are to be abandoned. Whenever these non-virtuous thoughts arise in the mind, one should apply the four powers and recite the Sutra of the Three Heaps, which is the antidote. These two should be practiced alternately and repeatedly. From now on, one should maintain mindfulness of the non-virtuous side, and as soon as non-virtuous thoughts arise, one should immediately destroy them. During the main practice, (836) one should also, as stated in the biography of Jowo Dipamkara, confess in the afternoon the evil deeds committed in the morning, and confess before going to bed the evil deeds committed in the afternoon, so that one does not spend even one night with sins. Some people mistakenly think that it is enough to confess only once, and therefore they act without restraint in their behavior and non-virtuous side, indulging themselves. Some people think that it is enough to recite a single confession verse morning and evening, which is a great mistake. Because the previous confession did not suppress the remorse of confession with the four powers, and there was no determination to vow never to commit the offense again even if it meant losing one's life, one immediately loses faith in the unfailing interdependence of karma and its results, which is a false view that destroys all the teachings. Therefore, one should think deeply from the bottom of one's heart about the meaning of the words up to this point, and if one does not develop a sense of disgust for all worldly affairs, like a person with bile disease seeing food, then hearing (837) is just words, and reading is just sentences, and it is impossible to truly understand. Padmasambhava said: Wherever the Buddha's teachings and the sacred Dharma are, one should search well.

When hearing the excellent Dharma, if you do not grasp the meaning of the words with correct thought, it is like an overturned vessel that cannot hold water, and it is useless when the suffering of samsara increases. Therefore, no matter how abundant worldly enjoyments may be, they are like a lamp in the wind, or a spring of water in summer, or lightning in the sky, or a mother's dream, extremely impermanent and without truth. Therefore, always rely on solitude, generate a sense of renunciation, be content with what you have, entrust yourself to joy in sickness and happiness in death, and let others talk about you as they please, like the belongings of the dead. Like a leper wandering in foreign lands, admiring a place where not a single bird comes and goes, you should devote your mind to practicing the instructions of the excellent Lama (838). The Great Orgyen said: This is a place of renunciation of the world, the happiness of beings seems perfect, like summer water and dream wealth, without truth and quickly impermanent, so you should always generate a sense of renunciation. If you turn away from this, indulge in confusion, and are amazed at the glory of beings, you are a person of little merit, your heart is like a hollow and rotten tree, and the fruit of liberation cannot grow from the outside. Alas! If you think that the wealth of this life is constant and perfect, this is the worst of children, and there is no one more foolish than this in the world, there has never been and never will be. Thus it is said. The seventh practice of mind training: In the "Son's Book" it is said: Thus, having abandoned the distractions of inside and outside, abiding in non-conceptual (839) meditation, experience increases, and as time passes, generate certainty in this meaning, never to be separated, this is the practice of mind training with seven practices. Thus it concludes. Relying on non-conceptuality, mind training is the supreme gate to entering the path of samadhi. In the "Drop of Liberation" it is said: When the upper wind is suppressed, appearances are controlled; when the lower wind is suppressed, the upper body is controlled; when the middle wind is swirled and stirred, it becomes dual union. As it is said, the appearances of beings remain outside, awareness remains inside, and in the middle, the karma wind is the mount, and the mind is the horse, the object and
