And, regarding the ripening fruit, being deluded about the correct view, and regarding the dominating fruit, good and bad will be reversed. Likewise, if those ten non-virtuous actions are classified according to the severity of the sin from an internal perspective, it is when they are undertaken with intense afflicted intention. In terms of divine dharma, the revered one is the lama, and in terms of human dharma, the revered ones are the parents. Killing such special objects, as well as deceiving them, stealing their wealth, and causing discord, speaking harsh words, being greedy, and having harmful thoughts. Furthermore, engaging in sexual misconduct with those who are abiding in the vows of discipline (830), like engaging in sexual activity in inappropriate places. Like Devadatta, engaging in lying and divisive speech that causes division in the Sangha. Believing that Arhats do not arise. Killing large animals like livestock with arrogance of flesh and blood. Stealing many valuable items. Rejoicing in sins without confession or restraint, and so on, are extremely heavy. The opposite of these are light. As Prince Padma said: "The ten non-virtues and the five without interval, the five near ones and the four heavy ones, the eight inverted actions and the unspeakable actions, even if it costs your life, abandon even the slightest (evil deed). Enter into accordance with the ten virtues. Lay practitioners, novices, near-abiding ones, monks, etc., Pratimoksha, Bodhisattva, and Secret Mantra vows, whatever vows you have taken, when taking and protecting them, you who desire liberation, diligently protect them as if protecting your life." As it is said, (831) one must definitely ascertain the nature of the karmic results that have just arisen, examine which of these predominates in one's own mind, and then grasp the key points. No matter how many countless sins like these have been accumulated in the past, because they were not grasped with mindful awareness, one wanders in the indeterminate, and accumulating karma is not recognized as accumulation, making a great mistake like a barbarian. From now on, as soon as a subtle or gross sinful thought arises, represented by the ten non-virtues, one should rely on the antidote and be able to directly counteract it. But that is not enough; from the opposite side, with powerful virtuous deeds, like abandoning killing, etc., for the path of the ten virtues, one should generate effort like extinguishing a fire that has broken out on one's head or clothes. Think in this way, and meditate until inclination and joy have arisen. Vasubandhu said: "In the visible dharma (832) and so on, experiencing"

Etc., there are three aspects to this. As it is said, for example, the sinner Devadatta and the flesh-eating Rakshasa, Shri Dhara etc., went to hell without abandoning their bodies, exemplified by such stories of visible retribution. Unless one is a sinner with karma that will definitely lead to rebirth in the three lower realms. Otherwise, don't think like this: Alas, if that is the case, then to attain liberation and omniscience, one needs to eliminate the continuation of those non-virtuous deeds. But thinking that one has accumulated so much obvious sin in this life, but even that cannot represent even a small part of the inconceivable sins accumulated in previous lives for the sake of one's retinue, disciples, sangha, lineage, etc. The fruits of those sins can only be experienced by oneself, and cannot be shared with those for whom the sins were committed, because Nagarjuna said: You, for the sake of Brahmins, monks, gods, guests, parents, consorts and retinue, do not commit sins, there is no share in the ripening of hell. So, alas, alas! Now there is none! Now there is none! After passing away from here, there is no choice but to experience the suffering of the lower realms, thinking this, there is no way not to be discouraged. At that time, it is recognizing the flaws of karma and its results. Now people only talk about good and evil, but do not really recognize the root of what to take and what to abandon, so it is a little better than barbarians, but in reality it is meaningless. Now, because one is fortunate to have the kindness of the holy guru, one can see that karma and its results are not wasted, which is a great merit. After seeing it that way, it is not enough to just have fear and understanding, one must, through possessing the four powers, engage in strong confession and vows, strengthen the mind of regret, and learn the conduct of the Bodhisattva. If the taking and abandoning are not mistaken, then our teacher, with skillful means and great compassion, said that even if one has committed terrible karma like the five heinous crimes in the past, it can be purified by strong confession and vows later. As it is said in the Letter to a Friend: If someone has previously committed countless evil deeds, but later becomes cautious, they are as beautiful as the moon free from clouds, like Nanda, Angulimala, Dridhasena and Suddhiprada.
