It is not contained within either. Although mind and mind-nature appear to be the same in the nature of mere non-conceptualization, mind is accompanied by grasping and subtly accompanies the habitual tendencies of objects like a shadow. Mind-nature, on the other hand, is free from elaboration in its essence, clear in its nature, and is the wisdom of all aspects, which cannot be disturbed by objects or sinking and excitement. Therefore, it is the perfection of all interdependent origination that transcends suffering. From the tantra called "The Great Perfection, the All-Good, the Wisdom Space Tantra," the chapter explaining the doors of the ground and samsara and nirvana (653) Hum, is the first chapter. Furthermore, Vajra of Thought asked: From the boundary between samsara and nirvana, is it possible or not to establish the logic of before and after and time? Is the teacher, All-Good, also manifesting as an illusion in the face of the virtuous appearance of others? How is the true existence of phenomena gathered by other tantras established? Please tell us, teacher. The command was given: In the appearance of the emanation body, there is a distinction between past, future, and present, and it is established as the three times. But since All-Good is free from expressing the nature of reality, in an inconceivable time, starting with All-Good, it is merely nominally designated as the first protector. Therefore, wherever the wisdom of discrimination between samsara and nirvana arises, it is called the separation of samsara and nirvana, because two paths appear on one ground. O Vajra of Thought (654), essence of all Buddhas, the first protector, the Blessed One, the glorious All-Good, if you think that it is gathered by other tantras from the ocean of external environments of sentient beings, then samsara and nirvana are in a state of connection and non-connection, because sentient beings are separated from the seed of Buddhahood, so the teachings of the ocean of the two accumulations will also be cut off. Therefore, in my nature, the Great Perfection, there are both liberation from the ground and the two paths of delusion, so be skilled in the way the ground abides. In this way, from the complete liberation from all the stains of one's own face, and from the two parts entangled by karma and afflictions, know the dharma that arises spontaneously in the realm of Buddhas and sentient beings, and I, All-Good, am not gathered by other tantras, nor like an illusion.

For appearances, place your hope in the illusory Buddha. This is what was said. From the Great Perfection All-Good (655) Om (藏文:འུྃ,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:) Wisdom Realm Tantra, the chapter explaining the division between samsara and nirvana, which is the second chapter. Furthermore, Conceptual Vajra inquired: How are the aggregates of consciousness, mind, and afflicted mind distinguished? The response was: From the alaya, the power of its own nature arises, and when consciousness begins to engage with objects, the alaya consciousness arises. For example, the realm of the alaya is like a thick sleep, from which the objects of the five senses do not actually appear. A very subtle apprehending consciousness arises, which spontaneously initiates the interdependent connection of grasping the images of universal concepts, like a mirror. Then, through the function of the root-winds of each of the five gates, consciousness is led to the objects, that is, form for the eye object, sound for the ear object, smell for the nose object, taste for the tongue object, and touch for the body object, thus the five aggregates of consciousness arise. This (656) with the nature of afflicted mind and mind, grasps onto attachment, aversion, ignorance, and so on, becoming the cause of samsara, that is, ignorance, karma, habitual tendencies, and all results. In short, it becomes the container or basis of everything, therefore it is the alaya. From the perspective of understanding, it is the alaya consciousness. From the perspective of looking outward and awakening to objects, it is the five gates. From the perspective of taking afflictions from its own ground, it is the afflicted mind. From the perspective of distinguishing various things, it is the mind consciousness. Therefore, it is called the eight aggregates of consciousness. Again, the question was: In that case, since these realms of appearance are illusory, why do all sentient beings perceive places, houses, and so on as the same thing? The response was: In the perception of those who are realized, there has never been an illusory appearance. For those who are not realized, in general, the appearances of each of the six realms are different. Even the same water is seen as nectar by gods, as flames by hell beings, as pus and blood by hungry ghosts (657) Om (藏文:འུྃ,梵文天城体:,梵文罗马拟音:,汉语字面意思:), and so on. The appearances of the six realms are different. Those that are gathered by the karmic appearances and power images of their respective places are also only roughly the same in the appearances of their realms, faculties, and thoughts, therefore they jointly experience the illusory appearance. Measured from the perspective of realization and non-realization, that is how it appears.
