And generate faith. In order to go to the excellent realm of Sukhavati, generate strong aspiration. Whoever hears the name of Sukhavati, that merit, all the great and supreme Buddha-fields, cannot be compared to it. Thus it is said. The Venerable Ananda rose and faced the west, scattered flowers and folded his palms, and paid homage to the direction where the Blessed One, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Enlightened Buddha Amitabha, the stainless and utterly pure, dwells, lives, resides, and teaches the Dharma. His name is known without obstruction in the ten directions. In each direction, there are (570) Buddhas and Blessed Ones as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, without speech defects and without lacking words, who repeatedly praise and extol him, and proclaim his good name. Thus and so forth is extensively said, therefore one should diligently engage in this. Although the rituals in the sutras are sometimes hidden and sometimes directly shown, relying on the meaning is for the sake of the Buddhas' activities. Like maintaining samaya, like yoga, may this explanation benefit all sentient beings. This was composed by Rangjung Dorje at Palden Tsering Jong at the urging of Dokhampa Jigme Trinley Ozer. ༈ The Prayer for the Sukhavati Realm Homage to the Blessed One, the stainless and utterly pure. The realm of Sukhavati, infinite in light, formed from the accumulation of the Buddhas' merit, to the protector Amitabha who dwells there, I prostrate at the feet of the Buddha of Infinite Life. May I be born in the (571) realm of Sukhavati. When you were known as the monk Dharmakara in the presence of the King of the World, may I regard the vow to uphold the Buddha-field as my guru, and pray for swift permission. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. Like the palm of a very tender hand, a suitable object for comparison, the extent of the Buddha-field, where the width of the water is invisible, is made by spreading various jewels. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. Mount Meru, the ocean, the iron mountain range, delightful without any ordinary places, the trees made of the seven precious substances, exceeding a thousand fathoms and six.

May I strive towards the place of bliss, may I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. Branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits are covered, golden nets make pleasant sounds like nets, all the wonderful sounds that urge without ceasing, are harmonious and beautiful (572), resounding softly. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. The fragrance of flowers is especially rich, the beds are spread everywhere, even seven people lying side by side are not tired of it, pressing it is soft, lifting it is stretched and comparable. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. Gods, humans, evil destinies, and asuras, only their names are not heard, it is rich and prosperous, the happiness of a good harvest is complete, the name of endless glory is established. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. The best landing place, the river of fragrant water of bliss, is not controlled by the noise of others, it flows freely according to the mind, the supreme bliss and pleasant sound do not cease, relying on the meaning of impermanence, peace, and selflessness. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. On the golden sandy beach away from the mud, lotuses, cranes, swans, mandarin ducks, parrots, partridges, peacocks, and cuckoos, kalavinkas cherish the strings of the lute. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. (573) From these, all that is perceived by the aggregation of the ears, the sound of the Three Jewels and the Four Immeasurables, the earth and the perfections, the ten powers and the four fearlessnesses, the eighteen unmixed qualities are complete and meaningful. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. In the beautiful gardens to look at, hundreds of thousands of desirable qualities arise, in the sky, emanations of immeasurable palaces and so on, even the Paranirmitavasavartin cannot compare. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. There, the planets and stars have no day or night, houses and the mind that holds them, even if they are completely absent, there are clouds of offerings and the joy of the goddesses is extremely comfortable and happy. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. Wherever the victorious one lives and dwells, praising and speaking of as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges, also do not abandon diligence, therefore, approach Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta. May I be born in the realm of Sukhavati. In this realm, the root of past (574) virtue, even with defilements, can hold the lotus womb, and with many attendants, a great man is born.
