Without being jealous of perfections, cultivate joy, thinking, 'How happy I would be if other beings were to become like this!' Equalize attachment to one's own side and hatred towards others, and learn to abandon without partiality, like the lifeblood of aspirational mind. Similarly, in terms of practice, continuously and diligently gather sentient beings with the four means of gathering. Among these, generosity is the first door to gathering sentient beings, as no one dislikes generosity. First, gather sentient beings with material generosity. Likewise, no one likes harsh words, so please others with pleasant speech. Then, engage in beneficial actions, abandoning the mind of weariness for the sake of others, and practice the path of learning. Consistency of meaning means that as you instruct others, you must also act according to the Dharma. For example, the Bhagavan is peaceful, the Bhagavan is gentle, and the retinue is also gentle. Because if one's own mind is untamed and one's speech is harsh, it is difficult to benefit sentient beings, therefore the four immeasurables are the unerring thought for accomplishing bodhicitta, and the four means of gathering are the unerring practice for engaging in benefiting others, so they should be regarded as the lifeblood of the Mahayana path. Starting from the tenth chapter, there are six trainings for entering (the Bodhisattva path), wishing for the three perfections of generosity. May I always give the three kinds of generosity: material generosity to those who desire anything, excellent explanations to those who seek the meaning of Dharma, and protection to those in various terrifying situations. Among these, material generosity is further divided into giving, great giving, and extreme giving. The first is the method for destroying attachment and clinging, which should be learned from the smallest things and gradually expanded. For example, when stinginess arises even for a handful of tsampa or a little food, one should feel ashamed and think: 'You were not born as a wealthy person because of stinginess in the past, and now you are still craving like a hungry ghost, how pathetic! Thinking that you will leave everything behind and go empty-handed at the time of death, do you intend to pretend to know everything like a fool?' If you are stingy to give a handful, you must generate the courage to give a load, because conceptual thoughts are impermanent, so gradually reduce stinginess.

Where shall I go? Do not hesitate to be able to generously give away your sons and daughters. Ultimately, one must learn to be able to give away one's head and limbs. This is also through learning to destroy the miserly mind, thereby becoming accustomed to the mind of generosity. If the mind of generosity becomes accustomed, then the perfection of generosity is fulfilled. Similarly, the Dharma giving that combines the mindstream of others with the true path is meaningful and should be used to correct wrong views and cultivate right views. Temporary royal punishments, the fear of fire, water, wild animals, and robbers, etc., are also temporary, so the giving of fearlessness and protection should also be valued. The eleventh, the aspiration for the three perfections of discipline is: May I abandon all non-virtuous actions, Engage in vast virtuous actions, Strive to accomplish these for the benefit of others, And thereby protect pure discipline. Among these, abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions is the basis of discipline, because it has immeasurable benefits. Laypeople should also value this, as it is the meaning of having a leisure and endowment body. In particular, in order to obtain a higher status, one should observe the eight precepts on the eighth, fifteenth, and thirtieth days of the month, as well as on the four great festivals. Its content is, on the basis of abandoning the four root sins of killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, and lying, (532) not drinking alcohol, not engaging in singing and dancing and ornamentation, not sitting on high and large beds, and not eating untimely food, these eight. In particular, the Pratimoksha vows, which are the basis of qualities, namely the four root sins of a Bhikshu, the ten precepts of a Shramanera, the Shikshamanas, and the Upasaka and Upasika vows, these seven types of Pratimoksha vows, guarding one's mindstream for as long as one lives, is the actual teaching of the discipline of abstaining from misconduct. Among these, from the aspect of motivation, if one takes vows in order to escape the king's punishment and taxes, etc., that is to escape fear; if, like most people nowadays, one takes vows for the sake of livelihood and peace, that is merely a good wish and cannot become a cause of liberation. However, if renunciation arises in the mindstream, then the vows will transform into a cause of liberation, therefore in all circumstances one should generate aversion to the suffering of samsara. On top of this, among the two disciplines of a Bodhisattva, the virtuous Dharma
