And with my foolish mind, I am tightly bound by the bonds of attachment to the self of sentient beings. Regarding the selfless Dharma, clinging to objects and characteristics, all sins arising from not realizing the selflessness of Dharma. Now I sincerely repent, deeply regret, and confess one by one. The fourth branch is the branch of rejoicing, with words such as "Buddha with sons," rejoicing in the merit (522) of the Buddha and his retinue, who are adorned in the center of the Bodhisattva assembly, such as the five perfections of generosity, and the accumulation of wisdom, that is, the two accumulations of wisdom and so on. And the traces of their departure, that is, the path of accumulation, the path of preparation, the path of seeing, the path of cultivation, the four noble truths of learning, and the ultimate of learning, that is, the path of no more learning, that is, the Buddhas and the Hearers and Solitary Realizers of the inferior path, and all sentient beings bound by all bonds, all the roots of virtue accumulated in the past, future, and present, all with joy and rejoicing, and with an indifferent mind, praising and rejoicing. The fifth branch is the branch of requesting the turning of the wheel of Dharma, the Buddhas who dwell in the boundless and infinite realms of the ten directions, the four directions, the four corners, above and below, for the various realms of sentient beings, and the sharpness and dullness of their faculties, as they are, the bridge, that is, the aspect of view, and the vast, that is, the aspect of conduct, and the Great Vehicle that fulfills the meaning of both and is skillful in means, that is, the wheel of the supreme secret mantra, may it be constantly and continuously turned, this is its meaning. The sixth branch is the branch of requesting not to pass into Nirvana, from naming joy to who, that is, calling the Buddha, those who are equal to you are not contradictory, and are the supreme guide and Dharma King of the world. After showing the completion of the eleven deeds, showing the last deed, that is, those who are about to enter Nirvana, pray that until Samsara is empty, they will always dwell for the benefit of others and not enter Nirvana. The seventh branch is the branch of dedication, with the offering here, that is, taking the present root of virtue as a representative, gathering all the roots of virtue of the three times in one place, with the power of wishing that all sentient beings may attain Buddhahood, may we not be small things, but be like space.

May all sentient beings who are suffering attain the state of all-knowing Buddhahood, I pray with one-pointed devotion. Secondly, regarding the meaning of the text, the first of the thirty-two is the aspiration to remember the difficulty of finding leisure and endowment (p. 523): In all lifetimes in which it is not attained, may I have a precious human body endowed with leisure and endowment, which is rarer than a star in the daytime. This is the aspiration to attain a body with the necessary conditions. How is it arranged? "Leisure" means being free from the eight states of unfreedom. These are: the three lower realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals. Even if born in a higher realm, gods are distracted by sensual pleasures and heedlessness. Barbarians do not know the difference between virtue and vice, kill whatever they see, and engage in evil deeds. Those with wrong views generate malice even towards the lama and the Buddha. If born in a dark age without a Buddha, one does not recognize the right path from the wrong path and is like a barbarian. Mutes cannot use their consciousness, so even if taught the Dharma, they cannot understand. Thus, if not born in these eight places, one has leisure to practice the Dharma, and is therefore called "leisure." Regarding endowment, self-endowment includes: obtaining a human body, and being born in a central land where the Dharma flourishes. First, one is complete in faculties and does not delight in non-virtuous actions, so one does not fall into the lower realms. The five other endowments are: not being born in an age when a Buddha has not appeared, the Buddha has come into the world, the Dharma has been taught, the teachings have not declined, abiding in the teachings, and having loving-kindness towards the lama and virtuous friends. Therefore, having a precious human body with the eighteen leisures and endowments is like an impossibility. Not only that, but one should rely on a supreme spiritual friend who is the root of the path, like one's eyes, without contradicting his mind, pleasing him in various ways, and listening only to the Dharma, which is hearing. Thinking and explaining by understanding the meaning of the words is thinking. Keeping these meanings in mind, constantly striving in hearing, thinking, and meditation, one will achieve one's own benefit and be able to contribute to the Buddha's teachings in the future. Secondly, may the thought of impermanence arise in my mind. Even if one obtains such leisure and endowment, that which is its life, like a dewdrop on a blade of grass, does not last long. Not to mention tonight or tomorrow (p. 524), one cannot even trust for a moment the messenger of Yama, the Lord of Death.
