After reciting this, one should taste the special substances of empowerment from the vase, and visualize the remaining water from the vase swirling on the crown of the head, with the deities of the lineage adorning the crown. After reciting this, visualize the empowerment deities residing in the sky dissolving. After reciting this, scatter flowers to stabilize it. To enthrone the disciple in the supreme position of Vajra Acharya, offer extensive worship with flowers and other offerings. The third is proclaiming the vows. Oh, this completes the four empowerments along with all their supporting activities in the great mandala of the Three Roots, which are self-liberated through seeing. The qualities of receiving such empowerments are inconceivable, and all the accomplishments of secret mantra arise from empowerment. As it says in the tantras: Thus, all empowerments are fully complete, the qualities of bestowing them are inconceivable, the accomplishments of secret mantra arise from empowerment. And, the faults of not receiving empowerment are: boasting of the three wisdoms, etc., is fruitless and will lead to destruction. As it is said, if one has not received empowerment, even if one strives in hearing, thinking, and meditating, it is fruitless. (436) And, at the time of receiving empowerment, auspicious signs will appear, leading to the attainment of the ten bhumis of exaltedness, and ultimately settling in the state of ultimate bliss. As it says in the tantras: The signs of attainment, the dakinis will prophesy, seeing it is like holding a wish-fulfilling jewel on the crown, the sun rises on the head, becoming a general, the head and upper body are light and comfortable, drinking from the vase and consuming the essence of food, one can freely control the power of one's own mind. Therefore, to protect the seeds of these empowerments that generate such abilities, one must rely solely on vows and commitments. As the victorious Padmasambhava said: The root of supreme and common accomplishments lies in empowerment, the life of empowerment lies in upholding the vows, if broken, it is like a seed burned by fire, even if one practices diligently, it is fruitless and will be destroyed. Thus, if we categorize the types of vows to be protected, the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have 250 precepts, Bodhisattvas have 85, Kriya Tantra has 20, Charya Tantra has 20, Yoga Tantra has 21, Maha Yoga has 100, Anu Yoga has body, speech, and mind, and Ati Yoga has Yeབསྲུངས etc.

Although the divisions of the Maya class are different, the root of everything is body, speech, and mind, and abiding in the twenty-five branch vows, not deviating from its nature. In the Tantra of the Complete Gathering of Secrets, it says: The essence of the tantra is to protect the vows, the root is body, speech, and mind, and the branches are twenty-five. If explained extensively, it is inconceivable. The root and branches should not be violated, otherwise one will abide in the King of Equality and Perfection. The explanation of its nature is: In the same tantra, it says: The vow of the body is Vajra. Towards the Vajra master, Dharma brothers and sisters, never strike, abuse, or slander. Do not have malicious thoughts or biased views. The vow of speech is that after receiving empowerment, the mantras and mudras of the deities of the Yidam mandala should not be interrupted, and the Supreme Vehicle should not be abandoned. The vow of mind is the ten secrets. All the materials and tools for practice should be kept secret. If not kept secret, one will become a heretic and an adulterer. Medicine, torma, and offerings should be kept secret. If not kept secret, accomplishments will diminish. In general, the essential essence of the mandala should be kept secret. If not kept secret, power and blessings will diminish. The mantra practitioner should keep the mantra and mudra secret. If not kept secret, one will become insane. The practice of union and liberation should be kept secret. If not kept secret, one will become a laughingstock to the world. All activities and conduct should be kept secret. If not kept secret, one will be cut off. The tantra, sadhana, and instructions should be kept secret. If not kept secret, the punishment of the dakinis will descend. In short, things that should be kept secret should be kept secret. If not kept secret, one will become mute. Instructions given specifically should be kept secret. If not kept secret, great degeneration will occur. These vows of body, speech, and mind, if violated, for one, two, or three kalpas, one will inevitably fall into the Vajra hell. Therefore, the branch vows are divided into five groups of five, as explained in Kunjed Gyalpo and Damtsik Sumkö and others, which have very clearly elucidated the key points of the vows. In the root text of the Essence of Vows, it says: First are the five vows of knowledge. After entering the gate of secret mantra empowerment, meditate on the mandala of the five families of phenomenal existence. The skandha of form is Vairochana, the skandha of feeling is Ratnasambhava, the skandha of perception is Amitabha, the skandha of volition is Amoghasiddhi, and the skandha of consciousness is Vajrasattva. Earth is the Great Mother Buddha Locana (藏文:སངས་རྒྱས་སྤྱན,梵文天城体:बुद्धलोचना,梵文罗马拟音:Buddhalocana,汉语字面意思:佛眼), water is the Great Mother Mamaki (藏文:མཱ་མ་ཀཱི,梵文天城体:मामकी,梵文罗马拟音:Māmakī,汉语字面意思:嘛嘛ki), fire is the Great Mother White-robed, wind is the Great Mother Samaya Tara, and space is the Great Mother Dhatvishvari.
