Therefore, I became disgusted with the incorrect theory of "it will definitely not happen," and gradually crossed the Ganges. While traveling and begging for alms in the Ganges region, news reached my father that his libertine son was associating with immoral people, not attending to his duties, and had returned to Rajagriha, wandering around. Upon hearing this, three hundred attendants were sent from the Sakya clan, and two hundred from Lhasa. Among the three hundred, Kaundinya, Asvajit, and Vashpa were students of long-distance flight, and among the two hundred, Mahanama and Bhadrika claimed to be students of libertine behavior. However, these two were not obedient, so the three students of long-distance flight also stayed with the libertine, and these five were known as the Five Ascetics. The act of asceticism was as follows: At that time, the five also thought, "We have practiced libertine behavior purely for a long time, but have not gained anything. Gautama has understood with little effort, so we should follow him." Then, together with desires, they went to the banks of the Nairanjana River, sat in the lotus position under a tree, and cut off their attachment to coarse food and drink. They pressed their teeth against each other, pressed their tongues against the palate, controlled their minds with their minds, and remained in a meditation that pervaded the sky. For six years, they practiced extremely difficult asceticism. At that time, the color of their bodies became black and emaciated, so they were called black practitioners. At this time, the gods of the Thirty-Three Heavens met with their mother, the father was overwhelmed with grief, and Kirti burned herself, but was not harmed by the power of her son, and so on. There are countless histories. Among them, the basis of asceticism was that for the first two years, they ate one grain of rice, for the middle two years, they drank one drop of water, and for the last two years, they stayed without eating anything, it is said. The act of going to Bodh Gaya was as follows: Then, at the age of thirty-five, known as the Victorious One, on the eighth day of the second month of summer in the Wood Horse year (Tibetan calendar), the Buddhas of the ten directions gathered, filling the sky, and with the sound of bells, they said, "This meditation is not pure, nor is it the method of attaining ultimate liberation. The luminous goal you seek is as supreme as the surface of the sky." After saying this, they arose from the immovable meditation and accepted the grains of Harinuka.

Because he took nourishing foods such as oil, his strength increased and his previous karma became magnificent, so he was known as a magnificent ascetic. Because he ate coarse food, fearing that he would fall from his asceticism, the five excellent groups were displeased and went to the city of Varanasi. Then, at the urging of the gods, in order to attain enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, the great being went to the Vajra Throne with steps such as the fifty-four powers, and on the fifteenth day of the Saga month of that year, the village girls Lekyama and Gawa Topma offered milk porridge, condensed sixteen times from the milk of a thousand cows, full of honey essence, poured into a golden bowl. After eating it, his body became like a wiped golden pillar, complete with the thirty-two major marks of a great man, the eighty minor marks, and the splendor of a fathom of light. As a symbol of liberation from the bondage of self-grasping, he threw the golden bowl into the water, and Thousand Eyes caught it with the appearance of a sky-flying woman. The verses of aspiration made by the girl also facilitated the favorable conditions for fulfillment. Indra took a bundle of soft grass roots that felt like cotton from Mount Incense and transformed into a grass seller, Tashi, and offered it. To complete its roots of virtue, he said: Tashi, quickly give me grass. Today, I will accomplish great things because of the grass. After destroying the army and the maras, I will attain peaceful and supreme enlightenment. After saying this, he took a handful of grass like a peacock's neck and went to the Vajra Throne. Regarding the Vajra Throne, the Greater and Lesser Vehicles have different descriptions.
