The way of manifesting the Dharma and other vast activities to their culmination and then dissolving into the expanse is as follows: Our teacher, King Rūpadharin, invited the Buddha Śākyamuni to turn the wheel of Dharma at the urging of his younger brother. At that time, although the Tirthikas were elevated to a higher rank, by the splendor of the ten powers, they and their retinues were relegated to the end of the Buddha's assembly, and they failed many times. The six Tirthika teachers, angered by the patrons' lack of respect and offerings, requested to compete with the Buddha in miraculous powers. King Rūpadharin said, "The Buddha is like the light of the sun, but you are like fireflies, so it is not appropriate to do so." Displeased, they said, "This king is on Gautama's (Śākyamuni Buddha's) side. Therefore, King Prasenajit of Kosala is there as an impartial judge, let us go to him." So they went to Śrāvastī and requested Prasenajit to be the master of the competition of miraculous powers. He also declined with words fearing your defeat, and the Tirthikas were displeased and scolded, "You have also been deceived by Gautama." The king also admitted it and requested the Tathāgata in the same way, and the Buddha agreed. There, (the Tirthikas) said those words to the six teachers, (the six teachers) said this: "Gautama is either running away or looking for help, and we are also looking for help." So they urged the wandering ascetic Rab-bzang of the country of Giants, but Rab-bzang also said that he was not able to compete with the Buddha, so they abandoned him again and invited five hundred hermits from the foot of the snowy mountains to help. Those hermits agreed and instructed, "Show us a sign when the time is right." At that time, the limb of the black man, the younger brother of the attendant of Prasenajit's mother, was cut off and thrown at the crossroads of the city. Relatives said to the six teachers, "Please speak a word of truth that can heal this." But they were unable to, and dejectedly remained silent. At that time, Ānanda prayed to the Buddha, and the Buddha said, "By the power of the truth that the Three Jewels are supreme, may the limb of this person be restored to its original state." As soon as he said that, the limb was restored. Ānanda announced loudly, "The Tirthikas have been defeated." In this way, the miracle was also accomplished. After that, from Śrāvastī to Rājagṛha, the Tathāgata resided on a precious throne in a fully adorned assembly hall of miracles.

When the six heretical teachers, along with all their belongings, including sixty thousand assembly halls each, finally arrived in the sky to witness the miracles, countless immeasurable assemblies of gods gathered. The Blessed One went to the temple and emitted rays of light from the door, burning all the halls where great miracles were to be performed. The six teachers said, 'If Gautama's hall is burned, we will pick up stones and come here to quell the anger.' The king and his entourage remained silent, understanding the situation. There, through the power of the Buddha, the fire burned away all the smells of the assembly hall, and he himself became a peaceful and beautiful assembly hall. The king was delighted and said to the heretics, 'The Blessed One has already displayed miracles, now it is your turn.' They had no courage, so they remained silent. Subsequently, the Teacher again stepped on the ground with his right foot adorned with the auspicious wheel, causing the great earth to tremble violently. Because of this, the five hundred hermits from the mountain caves, who had previously been sought for help by the six teachers, understood the signal to 'Come!' and flew into the sky. As soon as they saw the Tathagata, the hairs of faith stirred from within, let alone helping them. They prostrated to the Buddha with five limbs, and upon hearing the Dharma, they saw the truth. They requested ordination, and the Buddha accepted them with 'Welcome, monks,' completing their ordination and becoming Arhats again. Then, the Blessed One, at the age of fifty-six, in the winter minor month of the Wood Rabbit year (year uncertain), came to the miracle assembly hall. At the time when the lunar cycle was full, which the king had established as the beginning of the New Year, he gathered with the six heretical teachers as agreed to compete in miracles. It is said that amidst the countless people who came to witness the spectacle, he displayed the deeds of great miracles, as follows: On the first day, when King Light offered, he planted a toothpick in the ground, and it immediately transformed into a tree five hundred yojanas high. The flowers on that tree were as large as chariot wheels, the fruits were as large as containers holding five 'bre' of essence, and the radiance of the seven jewels emanated from the roots of the branches, dispelling the darkness of the four continents. It emitted a rich fragrance, bringing sensory pleasure.
