From the Sheath Essence: With the two, awareness and unawareness, as the nature of delusion and liberation, in the emptiness without distinctions, what difference is there with the view that completely rejects the desire for annihilation? Therefore, the inner Buddhists say that in the method of dissecting awareness, there is a gateway to both samsara and nirvana. Similarly, as the Secret Essence Tantra says, "The nature of mind is the perfect Buddha; do not seek the Buddha from elsewhere." According to this meaning, wherever all obscurations are completely removed and qualities are manifested, one's own mind alone is the Buddha. Other than that, where else is there an independent Buddha with inherent existence? To this, who should be designated as earlier or later? However, for the Buddha who is shown as a sign of accomplishment, maturation, and purification, the teaching of the Dharma with beginning, end, earlier, and later is a common guiding meaning, not a definitive meaning. Its definitive meaning has been explained before, so it should not be repeated again and again. However, for the nature of the clear light realm and the nature of Dharma without bondage and liberation, liberation is the ultimate Buddha. If one does not hold the unchanging self-awareness as the true view, but instead holds the Buddha as a sign of earlier and later as the center and thinks that it can be obtained, then there is no path to liberation. Why does it contradict the teachings in the ocean of sutras and tantras that "realizing one's own mind is the Buddha"? This is a true and certain scriptural statement. Therefore, on the basis where there is no distinction between samsara and nirvana, Kuntuzangpo ((藏文:ཀུན་ཏུ་བཟང་པོ།)Samantabhadra) attained liberation by recognizing his own Dharma, and sentient beings are deluded by the cause of ignorance, like sleep and manifestation. To this, one should know its nature without dualistic entities. In the thirty-eighth question, the so-called mind is the ability of memory, thought, and awareness, which is the basis of various manifestations. The first sentient beings and Buddhas, when the three paths of samsara, nirvana, and the path have not been established, what is the state of the original beginning, and how does its place and nature abide? To this, the answer is as follows: When the three paths of samsara, nirvana, and the path have not been established, the original state is considered to be the alaya ((藏文:ཀུན་གཞི་,梵文天城体:ālaya,梵文罗马拟音:ālaya,汉语字面意思:阿赖耶)) that is not created. Among them, in the Great Perfection, the basis for cutting off attachment as the center, the seven natures describe the state of the elephant like blind people touching an elephant.

Therefore, from the perspective of establishing faults as real, Considering the unsurpassed ground of our own tradition as a distinction, Namely, essence, nature, and compassion, On one ground, establishing contradictory dharmas, in three forms, Like this, stating the situation: That is to say, from the aspect of the essence of primordial purity, It is not established as a real entity, The nature is the resonance of great spontaneous accomplishment, Even if it has not become faces, hands, and symbols, It abides in the ground of deep, clear manifestation, Without abandoning the essence of primordial bliss and emptiness. From the aspect of compassion, the basis of wisdom's Manifestation has not ceased, It abides in the nature of great sovereignty, When its power manifests in the object, Cutting off the part of ignorance that has not been prophesied, Obtaining the dharma of liberation. If confused, it follows the object, In order to open the door of impure samsara, It is known as the basis of both samsara and nirvana. As it is said, in the Prasangika, The initial essence, nature, and Compassion exist in three forms. That is to say, the essence abides in the Dharmakaya, In the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya, There is no separation, no distinction, Even if it is accomplished from the realm, Body color and so on are not within the scope of thought. Nature is the manifesting, the form of light, White, red, yellow, green, and blue, Are not characterized by features, But are established as the realm of undifferentiated knowable objects. Compassion manifests in various ways, Therefore, it cannot be determined as unique, Because it manifests in various ways, it is called the ground. Thus, if analyzed in detail, the part of emptiness, Is explained from the aspect of essence, And its nature, the aspect of clarity, Is explained from the aspect of means. From the difference of the two opposites, If it is like the first, From the king of tantras, the unwritten, I have no birth and death, The unceasing dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no outer and inner, The clear dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no emptiness and reality, The manifesting dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no object of focus, The dharma of seeing is completely fulfilled. I have no body and mind, The self-manifesting dharma is completely fulfilled. I have no self and other, The five dharmas of wisdom are completely fulfilled. I have no cause of action, The great meditation is completely fulfilled. I have no direction and limit, The secret wisdom is completely fulfilled. I have no manifestation and cessation, The three dharmas of the Dharmadhatu are completely fulfilled. Therefore, it shows the emptiness of self-nature.
