Batu was appointed, and he took the queen named Drakdzinma and her entourage of twenty thousand into his palace. Similarly, when the son of Shakya Drilbu Dra's daughter was residing on the Aitsema Khangzang, the youth saw her from his chariot and his heart was captured. He then welcomed her and her entourage of twenty thousand as his queen, and they indulged in joy and pleasure. Later, Shakya Duslek's daughter, who was named Ridak Kye, was looking out from a window. The youth threw a pearl necklace, which wrapped around the girl's neck. This scene was witnessed by the crowd, and they reported it to the king. Thus, Ridak Kye and her entourage of twenty thousand were also welcomed. There, in addition to the sixty thousand attendants of the queens, plus the twenty thousand previously offered by the king, he enjoyed the perfect qualities of desirable objects with a gathering of eighty thousand queens until the age of twenty-nine. However, he knew the appearance of desirable objects to be like an illusion, and he was not tainted by the fault of clinging to self, nor did he deviate from the sacred conduct. Regarding the act of renunciation: At that time, the victorious ones of the ten directions urged him with the sound of music, saying: If there is no death and no sorrow, then become a Buddha, and satisfy the thirsty with nectar. Remember the supreme words of your past aspirations, and quickly manifest from this city! Upon hearing these words, he understood it as a sign of renunciation, and with longing, he had the charioteer drive him from the eastern gate of the city to the eastern pleasure garden. On the way, he saw a Brahmin woman manifested by the gods, whiter than hail, with a thin and trembling body, appearing old and decrepit. He asked what this was. The charioteer replied: God, this is called old age. Old age means that one will soon die. Am I also not exempt from the law of aging? Even the gods are not exempt from the law of aging. Hearing this, he felt sadness for a moment and turned back. Similarly, on the road going out from the southern gate, he saw people afflicted by the suffering of illness. On the road going out from the western gate, he saw a dead person placed on a stretcher, with the bereaved people uttering cries of sorrow. On the road going out from the northern gate, he saw monks who were peaceful, disciplined, and virtuous. He saw the faults of household life.

Due to remembering the benefits of renunciation and liberation, he turned the reins of the excellent chariot inward, resided in the city, and resolved to renounce. When his father found out, he initiated various actions to make the youth indulge in recklessness. At that time, as five omens of leaving home, the trees of the king's palace withered, and his father, the queen of beings, the earth goddess, and others had inauspicious dreams. The diviner said, 'If nothing untoward happens within seven days, he will become a Chakravartin king.' King Śuddhodana, after consulting with his brothers, surrounded the city with seven layers of iron walls and moats. All the gates were made of iron, and bells were hung on the door rings, the sound of which could spread for a yojana. Outside the palace, there were movable ladders, which five hundred mutes were responsible for setting up every night, and five hundred people were responsible for dismantling every morning. The Bodhisattva was placed in a high mansion, surrounded by a multitude of consorts, and enticed with songs, dances, and music. The assembly of ministers, along with the four divisions of the army, were appointed to patrol outside. At night, Śuddhodana guarded the east gate, Dhautodana the south gate, Śuklodana the west gate, and Amṛtodana the north gate, each with their respective divisions of the army. Now, as the sixth day had passed, on the evening of the seventh day, the Bodhisattva thought: 'If I were to leave home without informing my royal father, it would be disrespectful if my parents did not allow it.' So he went to his father and, with gestures of respect and deference, said: 'The time for the arrival of the gods has come, please do not create displeasure or obstacles.' After he made this request, the king, bound by his attachment to the throne, refused his request three times. Finally, the prince requested: 'If you do not grant permission, please do not let me be reborn here.' The father could not refuse and said: 'May your wishes be fulfilled, I rejoice in it.' Thus, he granted permission. Thereupon, the Bodhisattva abandoned the company of consorts, thinking that if he were to renounce, the Tirthikas would think that their leader was incapable. To avoid this slander, he sported and rejoiced with Grahadhāriṇī with the samādhi of heroic progress, and in her womb, he left the emanation of Vajrasattva, Rāhula.
