If these worms are not removed, this dog will not be liberated. If they are removed, the worms will die. Thinking these thoughts, he cut a piece of flesh from his own thigh with a sharp scalpel, thinking to place the worms there. In the instant he closed his eyes, when he picked up the worms, he found nothing, only a piece of rotten flesh. When he looked immediately, in the place where it had been, the venerable Maitreya, radiant with marks and signs, appeared clearly. He said in a dejected manner: Alas, father, my protector! Even after a hundred efforts, there is no result. Why do the rain-like clouds, the ocean-like army, scorched by suffering, not pour down the thirst-quenching nectar? I have done so much, yet you do not show your face, shedding tears of sorrow. Even if the king of gods pours down rain, just as bad seeds cannot grow, even if the Buddhas come, those without merit cannot experience goodness. I am always dwelling before you, but I do not see you because of the obscurations of karma. Now, the power of great compassion is like this! Now, also show it to the people of the city! As he said, he carried it on his shoulder and showed it. The brewer saw the dog, the poor only saw the feet and head, it is said that no one else had the capacity to see, after a long time. Now what do you want, father? When he said, he said the Great Vehicle will flourish. Grab my Dharma robe, he said, and then instantly took him to Tushita heaven. A day in the heavens is equivalent to a period of time for humans, and so on. The length of stay appeared to be different depending on the wishes. When he heard all of the Great Vehicle teachings and the Five Teachings of Maitreya, he determined the key points and obtained different gates of samadhi. In the long time, he passed away in an instant, and he did not possess old age in terms of age. In accordance with his name, his body was adorned with various ornaments, and he possessed many special qualities of having attained the ground. Even in dreams, there was no mind of self-interest, and he practiced the boundless gates of samadhi. He was gentle, tamed, and steadfast. He was particularly sharp in areas such as the ultimate goal of accomplishment and the punishment of bad behavior. After that, in the Saluvana forest in the land of Magadha, he built a monastery and resided there, possessing perfect discipline, and taught the profound Great Vehicle Dharma to eight learned disciples, all of whom obtained forbearance and manifested miraculous powers.

He completely mastered the ocean of Sutras. There, he also wrote down the Five Dharmas of Maitreya. He composed extensive treatises such as the Abhidharmasamuccaya. In the monastery called Ushmapuri, King Zamo acted as the patron, gathering all the monks from the four directions, and he taught the Tripitaka and about five hundred Mahayana Sutras, causing the wisdom of those skilled in the Sutras to increase and awakening the Mahayana lineage in more than a thousand people. The banner of fame for the extremely flourishing teachings of the exoteric tradition, which had seemed to decline for a time, was raised again. At that time, King Zamo thought: This teacher is a noble being and is known for being skilled at understanding the minds of others, so how should he be tested? So he consulted with the ministers and the Brahmin community, writing down in secret words what was worthy of praise or degradation, and then invited the teacher and his entourage to the courtyard of the palace, where they were treated with perfect merit. A black buffalo smeared with white ash was placed in the depths of the house, and a golden vase filled with impure substances was covered with honey and wrapped in cloth. Then, holding the golden vase in his hand, he asked: What is in the depths of the house? What is in my hand? The teacher was not only skilled in the manifestation of words, but had reached the ultimate state of understanding the meaning, so he revealed what was hidden. Then, thinking that if it was only a matter of knowing hidden things, that also exists in the realm of defilements, he wondered if he understood the nature of the mind. So he asked three questions based on the words of the Prajnaparamita Sutra and three questions based on the meaning, a total of six questions asked mentally, and the teacher answered without hesitation, causing the king and all the people to be amazed. Afterwards, the king was completely subdued by the Dharma and was arranged to build twenty-five foundations for the Mahayana Dharma. At that time, his younger brother Vasubandhu, who was living in the Hinayana tradition, heard people speaking words of doubt about the Mahayana Dharma and individuals, and he subdued them with skillful means and the immeasurable activity of great compassion. The Brahmin Sunaga from the southern region received teachings on the Mahayana Dharma from the noble Asanga, having received authorization from the Buddha Maitreya.
