Moreover, most of the people of Oḍḍiyāna who attained the state of vidyādhara relied on the unsurpassed path. Like the Lord of Secrets and others, they revealed the mantra vehicle to many fortunate beings all at once. All of them truly realized the rainbow body, so there were not many instructions left behind. However, Garab Dorje and others taught their disciples in a continuous lineage of words, and some taught in the form of relics, so Mahāyoga and others arose. Like the previous holy ones, they were very strict and skilled at keeping secrets, so no one knew that they were practicing secret mantras until they had attained accomplishment. For example, like the noble Nāgārjuna. When he disappeared with great miracles, or displayed great magical displays, then, "Ah, la la, that one is a practitioner of mantras," it was only then that people realized it. Therefore, the teacher teaches the disciple in a continuous lineage of transmission, thinking that the key points, time, and beginning of the transmission are the same. This is not only able to measure its characteristics, because it is a body of wisdom, so it will not be forgotten by death. For those who possess both visible and invisible conduct, arranging time and the proximity of the lineage,

During the time when the kingdom named "Extensive Increase Son Profound Direction" was ruled, a monk proficient in the three pitakas, due to the maturation of the karma of arrogance, was reborn as a woman named the Brahmin woman Prakāpaśīla. Due to the influence of past habits, she had faith in the Dharma, was sharp-witted, and had a strong mind of bodhicitta. She thought to herself: Alas, the Dharma is so declining, and we have been reborn as women, what can we do? It would be better to have a son and have him serve the Dharma. Therefore, she united with the Kshatriya caste and gave birth to the teacher Asaṅga; she united with the Brahmin caste and gave birth to Vasubandhu. First, the ceremony of opening wisdom was completed for them, and they were raised to adulthood. Before they grew up, they learned the eighteen branches of knowledge on their own and became very proficient. When the son asked about the Dharma of his own caste, she said: I did not give birth to you to do the work of the caste, but to benefit the Dharma. Therefore, you should renounce and diligently study. The son listened to her teachings and entered the Buddhist order. After receiving full ordination, he devoted himself to reading for five years. Each year, he understood all the words and meanings of a hundred thousand verses. The three pitakas and most of the Mahayana sutras were easy to understand, but the expression of the Prajñāpāramitā sutra was neither repetitive nor confusing, so he considered it difficult to understand. In order to understand its meaning, he wanted to practice the deity yoga. In a cave known as Vulture Peak Mountain, he practiced Maitreya Buddha, but for three years he did not obtain any signs. He felt frustrated and came out. He saw that the bird nests on the rock wall were severely worn by the touch of wings, and realized that his diligence was insufficient, so he returned to the cave. After another three years, he came out again and saw that water droplets had eroded the rock, and encouraged, he practiced for another three years. After coming out of the cave, an old man showed him the scene of wiping iron with a soft cloth and turning it into a needle, and inspired by this, he practiced for another three years. In total, he practiced for twelve years, but he did not see any signs, and he felt even more frustrated, so he came out. There, he saw a female dog being bitten by people and eating rotten food. He felt immeasurable compassion.
