After that, he composed articles refuting Buddhist doctrines and submitted them to the king and scholars. At that time, his father, the Pandit, studied for a long time but found that the author's heretic was difficult for everyone to defeat because he was proficient in semiotics. If one did not understand the meaning of the words, let alone answer them. At that time, after his father went out, the seven-year-old Chandra effortlessly answered the verses, and Qianbu also explained their meaning and recorded them. When he saw these, he asked, "Who is left at home?" Someone replied, "No one, it was that dumb son who was watching and writing these." The father asked the son, and the son looked at his mother's face and said nothing. The mother repeated it, and he said, "This is mine, it is not difficult to refute this opponent." The next day, the son Chandra and the heretic debated, Chandra won, and received a generous reward. In this way, he naturally became proficient in subjects such as sound and logic. The moonlight of fame also illuminated everyone. From the teacher Wisdom Steadfast, he understood almost all the Sutra Pitaka and Abhidhamma Pitaka after listening to them only once. From the Vidyadhara No Sorrow, he received and practiced the Vidyā-mantras, and personally saw the faces of Avalokiteśvara and Tara. He became a great scholar, and composed many treatises on medicine, poetics, and crafts, and was particularly good at and expounded acoustics. He married Tara, the daughter of King Bharendra, and lived together. Once, when his maid Satara called the queen, he thought that there should not be a name in the family that was the same as the personal deity, so he intended to go elsewhere. When the king found out, he said, "If he does not live with my daughter, throw her into the Ganges." So he threw her away. The teacher prayed to the Supreme Mother, and the Holy Mother said that she was an emanation. They arrived at an island at the confluence of the Ganges and the ocean. The teacher lived there, so the name of the island became Chandra Island. It is said that it can still accommodate seven thousand towns. There, he built stone statues of Avalokiteśvara and Tara. At first, the fishermen discovered it, and later other people came, and it became a town. As advised by the Holy One, he became a lay devotee of Goma.

Thus, Candragomin became famous. After that, he traveled to the island of Simhala (Sri Lanka) in the company of merchants. There, due to the prevalence of Naga diseases, he built the temple of Arya Simhagarja, which pacified the diseases. He propagated many fields of knowledge, including crafts and medicine, and bestowed great benefits upon foolish people. He obtained wealth from the local guardian spirit Yaksha and established many Dharma foundations. He also taught the Mahayana Dharma a little. After that, he traveled again to the southern region of Jambudvipa. In the temple of the Brahmin Mokṣecchuka, he saw the sight of the Naga king Śeṣa himself listening to the sound, and the commentary on Pāṇini made by the Naga. He criticized, "If few words and many meanings, completeness and repetition are the qualities of a commentary, then the Naga is very foolish, with many words, few meanings, repetition, and incompleteness." Then he composed the Candra grammar with branches, explaining the meaning of Pāṇini, and there he conducted the examination of the Naga hand (Klu lag), saying, "Brief, clear, correct, complete." At that time, glorious Nālandā was the source of joy relied upon by great scholars. Those monks who did not abandon asceticism for fear of debate with non-Buddhists only taught the Dharma outside the iron fence, and there was no other way. When the teacher Candragomin went to Nālandā, at that time, glorious Candrakīrti was born in southern Samanta, and from a young age, he was proficient in all fields of knowledge. He became a monk and held the treasure of all the Tripitaka. From the disciples of Lekhaka and Kamalabuddhi, the disciple of Buddhapālita, he became proficient in the treatises and oral instructions of the great chariot Nāgārjuna and became a great master of wisdom. Because his clinging to the truth of all dharmas had dissolved into the nature of illusion and dream, he milked milk from a cow painted on the wall and satisfied the Sangha with milk porridge. Because the clinging to the truth of appearances disappeared into equality, he penetrated stone pillars with his hand and passed through walls without obstruction, etc. He was adorned with many qualities of meditative accomplishment. Glorious Candrakīrti, his fame spread like music in all directions, becoming earwax for beings. He became the abbot of that great pure chamber and was teaching the Dharma outside when the teacher Candragomin (held) an umbrella.
