It is not in a place measured by years and months. Here, Master Vairotsana realized liberation in that very place and attained great simultaneous accomplishment. Therefore, keeping the land of Oddiyana (Uḍḍiyāna) in close memory, one should not establish even a single step of the logic of the noble ones. For example, Tilopa said that Naropa was thrown from many stories, but in reality, the yogi Ananta, who is the master of his own nature, wrote in his biography that he did not fall from even a single stone. Similarly, Vācung, who is overly attached to logic, may see contradictions between Śrī Siṃha and Vairotsana, but they are beings of wisdom bodies, so there is no death of the body. Because their karma is pure, they can still be met now, just as Matamgipa is known as a disciple of Nāgārjuna. One should understand this through the example of the long gap between the two. Regarding this characteristic, the master of wisdom and measure, Hārnātha, said: In the histories that occurred in Tibet in the past, the statement that all empowerments, teachings, and subsequent teachings were bestowed, is not like an ordinary teacher doing for an ordinary student, such as constructing a mandala, gathering empowerment substances, reciting rituals, practicing during the day, empowering at night, reciting scriptures, explaining the meaning of texts, indicating points, and entrusting teachings of transmission. Rather, for that fortunate individual, the Black Pandit, the incarnate wisdom ḍākiṇī, merely by bestowing intention and blessing the mindstream, in that instant, he attained special wisdom, completely understood the meaning of the tantra, and merely by granting verbal permission, he obtained the ability to extensively benefit sentient beings. That is empowerment and the unsurpassed teaching and subsequent teaching. As exemplified by this, in the biographies of the great accomplished ones of the past, the manner in which teachings were transmitted from one to another was mostly like this. And in our Tibet, even with just this much understanding, it seems that we fall into one of two extremes. The foolish people and those who follow the foolish, those who pretend to be wise, mostly use the reason that they have a vague understanding that the accomplished ones were like that, and they want to compare the current lamas and ordinary students, even the old people who have not even grasped the beginning of the path, to the accomplished ones, wanting to

Abandoning, severing all explanations of tantras and oral instructions, placing scriptures on the head, and thinking that focusing is enough, etc. For things they don't understand and can't handle, they pretend to be proficient. In such cases, the lama doesn't explain, and the disciple doesn't understand. Both teacher and student pretend to know what they don't know at all. Even if this is not the extreme of nihilism, those who emphasize mantra texts and rituals now impose strict restrictions on any beginner, even on noble ones, accomplished ones, and supreme practitioners. This is because they overemphasize rules and self-righteousness, leading to rigidity, which is precisely the extreme of permanence that clings to this. Therefore, for beginners, they need teachings with a reliable source of transmission and an unbroken lineage, they need ritual practices that are accurate and error-free, they need recitations and practices that reach a standard level, they need explanations of their respective scriptures to dispel doubts, they need to clearly define the focus and stopping point of their thoughts, and they need oral instructions that are guaranteed to be effective in practice. For those who have attained accomplishment, their realm of activity is not something others can understand, and even if there is no such certainty, one should not have wrong views or doubts about it, but should pray with reverence. At that time, because the Indians were jealous of the Dharma and feared being overtaken, Vairotsana kept the secret of the swift-footed gait in his grasp and bribed the master of the swift-footed gait so that he could not be overtaken. He quickly returned to Tibet and taught the common Dharma of cause and effect to the Tsenpo during the day, and secretly transmitted the Great Perfection at night. At that time, the Indians had ominous dreams and learned that the key to the great Dharma treasury of Vajrasana was damaged and the Dharma was incomplete. They sent spies to Tibet to create doubt. The queen Tsepongza failed to deceive Vairotsana, so she bribed treacherous ministers and requested that Vairotsana be punished based on the accusation of being an Indian spy. The king outwardly agreed, but in reality, he washed away the crime with honey water. The umbrella house of the disciple Utsi was hidden, but it was also learned by the commoners, and Vairotsana had to be exiled to Tsawa Rong. These stories are described in more detail in dramas and the like, and that's all there is to it here. The categories of translating the Holy Dharma are: "The All-Creating King of Bodhicitta," etc.
