Chandra Gomin, a monk who held the three pitakas, wandered in the king's palace begging for alms during a festival. Because he did not receive alms and was driven away by the gatekeeper, he was threatened by hunger due to fasting, and when he passed away, he was reborn as a king in the next life. He made a prayer that all ordained people would be satisfied with food. Later, he was reborn as the son of King Shri Harsha, named King Datsala. When he was in power, in the east of Barnadra, a pandit who could see the face of the Holy Avalokiteshvara, debated with a Lokayata heretic and defeated him. The heretic said, 'Logical reasoning is a product of mental discrimination, and whoever can write better has the doctrine of the victor. There is no clear evidence of the existence of past and future lives, so I do not accept it.' Then, with the king and the people as witnesses, (the pandit) put vermillion on his forehead and a pearl in his mouth, and passed away in order to show rebirth. His body was placed in a copper container, and the king sealed it. As he had promised, he was reborn as the son of the royal family's pandit Vishhevaga. This child was born with signs, vermillion on his forehead and a pearl in his mouth. When the king looked at the previous body, he found that the vermillion on the forehead had fallen off, and the traces of the pearl were still faintly visible. At this time, the heretic also believed. As soon as the child was born, he bowed to his mother and said, 'Mom, I'm hungry' within ten months. People thought this was an ominous sign and advised him to remain silent. After that, he did not say a word for seven years, and people suspected that he was dumb again. At that time, a heretic composed a very vicious poem aimed at refuting the doctrines of Buddhism and read it out in front of the king and scholars. His father, the pandit, although he studied for a long time, could not be defeated because the heretic author was a master of grammar named 'Lord of Speech,' and if he did not understand the true meaning of the words, let alone answer. Later, when the father went out, the seven-year-old Chandra effortlessly answered the poem and explained its meaning with verses and commentaries. When the father saw it, he asked who else was at home, and people replied, 'No one, just this dumb son is watching and writing.' When the father asked the son, the son just looked at the mother's face and did not say a word. The mother asked him to repeat it, so he...

I (said): It is not difficult to refute these people. The next day, Chandra and the heretics debated, and Chandra Gomi won, receiving a great reward. In this way, because he naturally mastered the sciences such as grammar and logic, the moonlight of his fame shone everywhere. From the teacher Lodro Tänpa, he understood almost all of the Sutra and Abhidharma Pitakas after hearing them only once. From the Vidyadhara Myangän Me, he received and practiced the vidya-mantras, and directly saw the faces of Avalokiteśvara and Tara. He became a great scholar and composed many treatises on medicine, poetics, and crafts, and was particularly skilled in grammar. He took the daughter of the King of Bharendra, named Tara, as his wife and lived with her. Once, when his maidservant called the queen Sadaru, he thought that it was inauspicious to have the same name as the yidam deity in the household, so he intended to go to another place. The king found out and said, 'If you don't live with my daughter, I will throw you into the Ganges.' So he was thrown away. The teacher prayed to the Holy Mother, and the Holy Mother said that this was an emanation of the Holy Mother.
