O new guest, behold the forests that display the manifestation of change and realization, using their own non-affliction as proof, advancing towards the merit of seven steps. 403 Wherever meditation is diligently practiced, it is the characteristic of higher mental discipline. The ritual of the body relying on dependent origination has the seven aspects of Vairochana as the life force of the mind. 404 Strive to practice equanimity that is neither one nor two. Whatever the object, bind the mind to virtuous deeds, abandoning the clinging discriminations of self-nature. The appearance of elaboration dissolves into the single nature of reality. 405 The appearing object is unceasing, without grasping. Consciousness does not cognize objects; in equanimity, the subsequent higher seeing is of the same essence. 406 If divided, there are the mundane preliminary stage and the discrimination of meaning. The three meditative joys of the Tathagatas, the four meditations of the four alternatives of existence and non-existence, and the four formless realms, are the number of types. The samadhi of the continuum of one who has not entered the path is, 407 the formless meditation of the mundane preliminary stage. The samadhi of the accumulation and application paths of one who has entered the path is known as the discrimination of meaning that manifests the path of liberation. The first ground is the samadhi of the noble ones, 408 being without outflows, it is the meditative joy of the Tathagatas. In general, its essence is to hold the mind inwardly, the cause is continuous mindfulness, possessing diligence. If scattered, then gather it again. 409 The remaining three lack both discrimination and investigation. The former is the proximate cause of the latter. It is known as the basis of the noble path. 411 The meditation that generates all qualities is seized by compassion and supreme wisdom. Possessing many samadhis, it accomplishes all forms. The subsequent equanimity of the single substance of mind abandons the grasper and the grasped. Arising from equanimity, the subsequent attainment is vast. 412 It exists in all up to the seventh ground. The ascertainment of higher wisdom discipline is born from the union of samadhi, or the wisdom arising from the manifest and the subsequent. 413 Or the higher seeing of the three wisdoms arising from hearing, thinking, and meditation is truly accomplished. Destroying the multitude of afflictions, in the divisions of phenomena and entities, one passes from the city of existence into the absence of sorrow. 414 The six perfections, such as generosity, also go from higher to higher, excellently entering and relying on the perfection of wisdom.

Moreover, in this realm of ordinary beings, if one does not rely on the wisdom arising from hearing, 415, then the merits of thinking and meditating will wander without a place to settle. It is said that the wisdom of hearing is the root of all phenomena. For the object to be measured, the measurer is wisdom, which measures in four ways: straightforward, hidden, double-meaning, and intention. The nature of all phenomena, suchness itself, abides in the three liberations, which is the definitive meaning. In order for the appearance of phenomena to enter the path, after measuring with reason, one establishes the straightforward path of superimposition. With these two, straightforward and hidden, which should one rely on, and which should one not rely on? Knowing this is the five eyes for viewing the scriptures. In order to clarify these natures, and in order to realize the intention of the meaning, 418 ༈. The explanation of intention and hiddenness, first is intention: there is also some explanation of superimposition, and the objects to be tamed, for the time being, speak straightforwardly, not merely for one purpose, but for some need, 419, and with limitations, thus showing four kinds of intention. The intention of equality shows contradictory things as one. The intention for other meanings shows when observation is accomplished. The intention for other times shows that enlightenment is attained effortlessly. 410. The intention for individuals is to hold them as supreme. The hidden intention is that, for some beings to be tamed, their wisdom cannot understand, and they harbor doubts, gaining a place to dwell. In order to please them, in a way that is circuitous and with names and parts, 421, one grasps the correct path, which is the case where words are the same but meanings are different. If one distinguishes, there are entering, nature, antidote, and transformation. The hidden intention of entering is that some Hearers, 422, fearing emptiness, abandon the Great Vehicle, and by saying there is form, they understand it as established and enter. This is the intention of appearances being like dreams. The hidden intention of nature is the meaning of no self-nature. 423. In order to know the meaning, there are successively the three: completely imputed, dependent, and perfectly established. Among these, first is nature without self-nature, second is birth without self-nature, 424, and third is ultimate without self-nature, thus showing that phenomena are profound statements. The hidden intention of antidote is to reverse the wrong conceptions of others. Lifespan is not determined by lineage and body size. 425. All Buddhas' form bodies and dharma bodies are equal. For the object of accumulation, it is also intended to be like equality. The hidden intention of transformation is not referring to killing those who should not be killed, killing parents, and likewise not referring to destroying. 426. The king and the one with pure conduct.
