The method of distinguishing from the perspective of the ground, as stated in the Condensed Kalachakra Tantra: The Wisdom Tantra is from the East, and the Yoga Subsequent Awareness itself is from the West face. From the right face, the Lord of Victors spoke the Yoga Tantra, and from the left face are the Action and so forth. Thus, the left face, due to the power of the habit of being awake, clings to the gross outer objects as the Action and Conduct Tantras. The right face, due to the power of the habit of dreams, clings to the appearance of the mind alone, as the Yoga Tantra. The front face, due to the power of the habit of falling into deep sleep, all external conceptualizations disappear, clinging to non-conceptualization, as the Unsurpassed Tantra. The back face, due to the power of the habit of the four faces, clings to bliss, as the distinction made by the category of the Yoga Subsequent Awareness Tantra, these are what is said. Therefore, in the lower three tantras, there is no special method of using bliss as the path, so the union branch within the seven branches is not taught either. These are to show the difference in the objects to be tamed, and thus establish the form of the Dharma of the tamer. Dharma is Action, Conduct, Yoga, and Unsurpassed. The first three are outer secret mantras. The Sage spoke truthfully, similar to the characteristic vehicle. The practice of pure precepts is mostly similar. The practice of desire, which is contrary to the time of strife, and the deity of the path are also not in union. One does not enjoy the five meats and five nectars. Therefore, the Kriya (kriyā, क्रिया, kriyā, action), Upa (upa, उप, upa, near), and Yoga, which are determined in number as the four tantras, that is, the three tantras of Action, Conduct, and Yoga, are personally spoken by the Sage in the form of detachment. Like the outer characteristic vehicle, there is much purity and impurity, taking and abandoning, and one cannot enjoy the inner samaya substances. Taking and abandoning, and severing relatives, etc., are the same as the asceticism and precepts of celibacy, because the manner is the same, so it is ascetic touch, or it is also called the vehicle of the Sage Tantra. As it is said in the Root Tantra of Manjushri: The seventh Sage speaks in verses, the Buddha's words are spoken purely. This is the difference of the teacher, and one cannot enjoy the inner qualities of desire, and the precepts of body and speech are the same as those with form. The common ground of both of these is that the two thoughts of the Great Vehicle rely on reverence for the Dharma and the Guru, and abide in the path of the ten virtuous actions, this is its aid.

Therefore, only those who are learned and possess a special aspiration to liberate beings can truly generate the precious Bodhicitta in their minds. As it is said in the Vajrapani Empowerment Tantra: 'Great Bodhisattva, this vast, profound, immeasurable, and more secret than secrets, great mudra mantra mandala should not be shown to sinful beings. Vajrapani, you have spoken something very rare. If it has not been heard before, to what kind of beings should it be explained?' Vajrapani said: 'Manjushri, those who have entered the practice of Bodhicitta, and when their Bodhicitta has arisen, Manjushri, those Bodhisattvas who practice the conduct of Bodhisattvas, who practice the path of secret mantras, should be initiated into the mantra mandala of great wisdom empowerment. Those who have not perfected Bodhicitta should not be allowed to enter, they should not be allowed to enter as if entering an empty mandala. Neither should mudras and mantras be shown to them.' Therefore, before empowerment, it is essential to have stable power in the aspiring and engaging mind. Those who do not understand this, who think that the disciples of mantra are controlled by great compassion and possess afflictions such as hatred, should be regarded as extremely ignorant. If there is only a semblance of showing the greatness of the tantric lineage and the conduct of vows, its meaning is not so. Even a cruel person like King Ashoka, if he meets a spiritual friend, because of the connection with past virtuous roots, a special good habit will arise in his mind, so his hatred is only occasional or can be eliminated by remedies. Now, those evil-doing kings and ministers, etc., who are householders, are constantly troubled by afflictions, anyone who has no mind of discipline, if he hopes to be liberated by the conduct of mantra, that is a great mistake. Therefore, those who enter this vehicle should also first enter the assembly of the four great wheels.
