That is, the one who is in samadhi. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Having fixed the mind on the object, do not let it be distracted in any way." And as it says in the Sutra of the Noble Samadhi: "If the mind is placed on the nature of things as they are, it will become an experience that cannot be named. Therefore, it is called samadhi." Thus, having obtained reliance on the object of calm abiding, one trains in superior seeing with individual discernment, which realizes the profound nature of reality, peace, freedom from all elaboration, natural luminosity, and emptiness like the nectar of one's own wisdom. As Maitreya said: "Having accomplished calm abiding, one should train in superior seeing." Its characteristic is also as it says in the Heap of Jewels Sutra: "Light Protector, what is the wisdom of individual discernment of all phenomena? It is the diligence of completely scattering the mind." Thus, in relation to the unborn state of the nature of the mind, all appearances that arise as power or illusion, although they have never existed in the appearance of duality, appear only as terms. However, because they are not liberated in their own nature, they are scattered into objects. It is only by the power of the illusion of habituation to grasping at objects that one realizes the incompleteness of not being established by nature with the sharp wisdom of individual discernment. As it says in the Sutra of the Treasury of Space: "By one dharma, all dharmas are like illusions and mirages, ungraspable and unaccumulable. If one realizes that they are false and not permanent, one will soon go to the heart of enlightenment." Thus, the qualities of the state of familiarity with calm abiding are also as it says in the Noble Cloud of Jewels Sutra: "By calm abiding, one subdues the afflictions. By superior seeing, one completely consumes the afflictions." Thus, by becoming familiar with the wisdom of superior seeing, individual discernment, the object of distraction arises as the nature of reality. Like not finding a stone in the golden continent, whatever thoughts of mind and mental factors arise, there is no need to abandon or counteract them. Awareness abides in its own state of meditation, and in this, appearance and mind are inseparable, arising in the vast expanse of primordial liberation. Therefore, the way of meditation free from sessions and breaks is like a heap of jewels. As it says in the Heap of Jewels Sutra: "Natural meditation is uninterrupted, without dullness or excitement, how wonderful!" And self-arisen

From that, the ungrasping nature of reality, the self-illuminating expanse of bliss, the non-conceptual, all-pervading nature of reality is enjoyed in all ways. The ungrasping nature of reality rests in its own place. The power of liberation and bliss, free from conceptualization. The self-appearance, without distraction, pervades all. The true nature of reality descends upon the great bliss ground. Thus, during the time of meditation, as the supreme method, whatever thoughts arise, do not reject them, nor is there anything to do. If you do not follow them and do not move from your natural state, you will attain all the qualities of purified senses, such as the divine eye, the wisdom eye, and clairvoyance. From the time that the wisdom of insight arises, whatever thoughts arise, do not reject them. Do not cultivate them with effort. Do not follow them either. If you reject thoughts in this way, you will fall into one-sided quiescence. If you cultivate them with effort, you will lose the nature of insight. If you follow them, you will not cut off the root of thoughts, and there will be no difference from ordinary people. Similarly, if you deliberately reject the senses and sense consciousnesses, you will not attain the five eyes, such as the divine eye, and the six clairvoyances of the mind, such as the six clairvoyances, and the qualities of purified senses. Among these, the six clairvoyances are from the Vajrasattva Magical Net: Knowing all times, knowing everything in the continuum of mind, seeing everything everywhere with the magical eye, hearing everything everywhere with the magical ear, performing benefits everywhere with the magical conduct, and the great clairvoyance of the complete pure conduct of Samantabhadra. Thus, by knowing the four times, one remembers past lives. The magical conduct is the ability to transform into whatever subdues whatever. The stainless is the pure vision of wisdom. The other three are easy to understand. Therefore, although objects appear to the senses, if sense consciousness does not conceptualize objects, it is called freedom from elaboration, as the great Brahmin said: As long as the senses fall into the city of objects, for that long, oneself is free from work and completely victorious. Therefore, relying on the meaning, the nature of the six aggregates being relaxed does not waver. Not following after appearances. Like the images of planets and stars spread out on a sea undisturbed by waves, by abiding in appearance without inherent existence, one obtains all the qualities of the grounds, paths, and fruits, as it says in the Kunjed.
